This place looks like a little hole in the wall per se however the food was a five star serving as well as the service. I had a... chuck steak with mashed potatoes and carrots the carrots were bland but it didn?t take away from the meal because the steak andthe mashed potatoes had all the flavor you need. Delicious! My son had the chicken tenders and broccoli which were to die forthe chicken tenders taste fresh and homemade. I enjoyed a root beer float, I felt like a kid again having one and the waitresswas so attentive although she was alone she met everyone?s needs. Will most definitely return. Thank you all~ Read more
The Shack has been our families go to for breakfast, (especially breakfast!) lunch and dinner. We have never had a bad meal... since it opened in the old Little Brown Shack over 30 years ago. Friendly people, delicious, hot and plentiful food at greatprices. I cannot say enough good things about The Shack! Perfect in every way! Read more

Burnt potatoes still cold on the inside, prices are alright, service was ok, place felt like a wannabe crackerbarrel with less... flavor. Edit, since I cannot reply: Yes, the waitress saw me spit the potatoes back onto my plate (I couldn't chew the coldpotato). She offered to have more cooked for me, but the other plate of potatoes we had (see pic) had the same problem. I didnot want more burnt potatoes with large cold chunks. Read more
Went for breakfast today and ordered a banana walnut waffle, the mess and some grits. The waffle was very very filling and had... plenty of nuts, bananas and whipped cream. It was really good and I would order this again. The grits were just perfect afteradding in the whipped salted butter that comes with it. My husband got the mess which I did not try but it was an astronomicalamount of food and he really enjoyed it. It even came with the corn bread which was some of the best corn bread I have had inquite a long time. I would come back just for the corn bread to be honest. Really nice diner on Long Hill road. Stopped in on a late morning and it wasn't too busy. The staff was very quick and attentive... to our needs in regards to allergies. Coffee was traditional diner style, not too strong. The portions were plentiful and weleft feeling content. I would definitely still by again when I'm local again in CT. Read more
Wonderful lunch today! I had warm lobster roll w/onion rings and husband had cheeseburger concoction that was terrific. What is... with the tiny drink glasses? Use a decent size glass and charge more so everyone doesn't have to keep their server running withrefills. Hint to our server: a glass of iced tea needs more than a few ice cubes (that's what I mean about a disappointingrefill.) Idea for the dessert case: place label in front of cakes and pies and clean the glass. We will be back. Read more
