My husband and I went here tonight.. his second time and my first. The staff was great and the food was delicious!! The owner... came to our table to make sure we were doing okay and explained the sushi he made for my husband. Explained where the fish wasfrom and made conversation. We absolutely love this place! My husband and I go here for all the special occasions. It's clean, the food is delicious, and... the staff is very welcoming and attentive. I have a gluten allergy, so they are very accommodating for the sushi along with thehibachi. They have gluten free soy sauce that you can ask for upon request. We've had a few birthday celebrations there and theowner is a very silly man. He came out and sang happy birthday very loudly, but with the help of each person at the tablesinging individually in the middle of the restaurant for the birthday person. I?m not a big fan of sushi but a friend of mine is and he suggested this place. I?ve heard other people brag about it. So I... thought I?d give it a try. Parking is extremely tight. They were very busy. The service was slow. I ordered tuna tartare for anappetizer and they brought me out something that look like pate paste cat food. Did not taste anything like the tuna tartareI?ve had in the past. I order Udon noodles with shrimp and chicken. I didn?t realize it was coming to me as a soup. I had twoglasses of tea which was lukewarm. The menu print was extremely small and it?s very dark where we were sitting. It was almostimpossible to read the menu. Tried to pull the menu up on my phone but there was no service. Like I said I?m not a big fan ofsushi but my date was happy with his. If you?re a sushi fan try it out and let me know what you think. You might not think Hackettstown would be home to a great sushi and steak house, but you'd be wrong. The menu is amazing, you... can literally pick from over 50 different kinds of sushi rolls. We opted for a sushi platter and were not disappointed. The fishwas fresh and delicious. The owner even came by to check that everyone was happy with their meals. Looking forward to comingback. reservations for 530 last saturday, some of our party was late due to picking up some wine but the staff was very accommodating... and we were able to sit around 6. took a few minutes to get glassware and drinks, understandable as they were quite busy.hibachi orders included calamari, filet, shrimp and chicken. the soup was good but definitely needed more onions. the salad wasjust ok. the show - you go to hibachi for the food and the show right? we had no show. the "volcano" was 2 slices of onionhaphazardly stacked and ignited. the chef threw some folks some food. that was the extent of the show :-( the food - I hadshrimp and filet. The noodles and fried rice were bland. veggies were ok, broccoli was pretty good. My filet and shrimp were alittle better but ultimately bland as well. super disappointing. additionally we were sat under a vent blowing hot air allnight, it was uncomfortable but we weren't in the mood to make a fuss about it. may end up going back to sakura in parsippanynext time. Beautiful decor, decent ramp but the doors are heavy, there's lots of space for maneuverability once you get inside but it's a... little awkward to get inside. The food was fantastic!!! We just had sushi but several rolls. It was a lovely night out. Read more
We tried the hibachi restaurant downstairs.. While the service, atmosphere, and menu offerings were all good, the food was... slightly bland, especially the mushroom soup/broth which tasted like warm water. Hibachi dinners were similarly bland, but notbad. Will definitely try again. Read more
