One of the most consistent restaurants in Southeastern Manitoba - maybe in the province. The Ukrainian fare is... some-of-if-not-THE-best I've ever eaten (and I grew up in a German-Ukrainian household, in North End Winnipeg) If you canrefrain from stuffing yourself on the ethnic food, I highly recommend trying a Sophie's Whistle Dog which I believe is the besthot dog you can buy in Manitoba (maybe even the whole country) Got room for dessert? Pie. Delicious, amazing, generous helpingsof homemade pie with one of the best crusts you will find outside of your own Grandma's kitchen! I can't say enough about thisplace. It's clean and cozy, the owner is a lovely human being and the coffee is great to boot! Been stopping here for 12 yearsand have NEVER been disappointed in a single meal. Try them. You'll be happy...and full! Read more

With all the good reviews we stopped in for lunch. Had the platter in order to sample everything. Very disappointed. Borsch... had no flavour and barely warm. Same with perogies, cabbage rolls. Definitely not worth the price. Read more

We visited Sophie's for the Ukrainian menu and what a treat! For appetizers, we ordered Perishky and Greek Perogies. The... Perishky, my favourite, are buns stuffed with sauerkraut and the Greek Perogies, also very good, had a filling that wasreminiscent of a spinach dip. The Ukrainian Plates were our main meal, which offered a taste of everything, and the Borscht wasa standout for flavour. This was a lot of food, so we took home leftovers as well as a few items from the deli, includingPelmini that I'm looking forward to trying. Read more

Ordered a dozen chicken wings and had some of the largest Wings I've ever had. I had ordered lemon pepper and was disappointed... that they were very subdued in their taste. One could barely tell they were a lemon pepper. I still quite enjoyed my meal andhad enough leftovers for supper the next day. Read more

I'm Ukrainian, was born and raised in Ukraine. I was extremely happy to discover this place on our way from Toronto to Calgary.... I can assure you the food tastes like back home, authentic Ukrainian food that brought back so many good memories! Highlyrecommend to stop by at Sophie's and to order some Ukrainian food rather than grabbing something at McDonald's or any other fastfood. Read more
