The most laid back, peaceful place I have ever eaten at ! It's an old country style restaurant with modern decor. The old water... wheel, that still functions, topped it off ! The restaurant is huge, split up into smaller rooms. At dinner they offer a menu or a buffet. Do the buffet - there is... something for everyone- salads, meats, sides, dessert. Plenty of it. We used to eat here when it was Welliver?s and they had good food. New owners turned it in to Willie and Reds. We tried here... last year and yes lots food options, nice atmosphere, good servers, and reasonable prices for amount of choices however I foundthe food inedible and terrible flavor. I?m not a picky eater! Recently we came back only because other family members wanted toeat here. I did not want to eat here but went anyways with family. Second experience the same horrible tasting food. Corn. Howcan corn not even taste like corn? Everything tasted like dumped straight out of a can. Well known for their smorgasbord,they are not to be overlooked for their steaks. I had a 16 is strip cooked to perfection.... Juicy, tender and full of flavor. A hearty salad was served prior with a mixture of ingredients and croutons. Along with themeal was a serving of their house bread which was cornbread with a slight orange flavor that was delicious. Willie and Red's is one of my all-time favorite buffets! Every side dish and every protein, whether it's meat, poultry or... seafood, is superb. All of the food is homemade with great attention to quality and detail. Some of my personal favorites arethe creamy mac and cheese, the scalloped cabbage and the fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy. I also love the fork tender roastbeef and crispy fried chicken. And don't forget to try the cream of onion soup and rich butterscotch pie! With the pandemic, their servers will get the food for you, so no worries about sanitation. This is definitely worth the drive to Hagerstown! Read more
We went to Willie & Reds for our Thanksgiving dinner. Our reservation was for 3:00 and we were seated at exactly 3:00. Our... server was smiling and took drink orders as soon as we were seated.
