Well we wanted to drive somewhere to the coast to cool off since the Bay Area was suppose to hit almost 100 degrees hence... thought of Half Moon Bay it's one of our favorite places to visit. We left by afternoon given the heat we knew there will betraffic on the way to HMB that was a wise decision we did got caught in traffic but still not bad at least it was movingsteadily at 40 mph. We had heard about The Barn (thanks to Yelp reviews) so thought of checking it out. There are good parkingspaces in front as well as backside of the restaurant. There is no indoor seating only outdoor but it's well shaded so didn'tmind at all . We loved the outdoor vibe plus there are more seating at the Beer Garden too but it's not shaded. We stood inline which was a bit long so took some time for our turn to come we were ok with that since it gave us some time to check themenu board. Here are the things we ordered- 1) The Hot Farmer Burger (medium rare) - Pomponio Ranch burger local pasture fedbeef from asan Gregorio served with all things special,white cheddar cheese,fried onion rings, tomatoes, arugula,dressed in ourhomemade Barn Buttermilk , made spicy with Barn special pickled jalapeños & sriracha aioli . We loved the burger it was juicy,flavorful, crunchy & not at all heavy burger bread was soft . Sadly I had to spilt it with my husband but next time I will haveit all by myself... I loved it very much!!! 2) What the Cluck - 1/4 pound organic chicken breast marinated with lemon oreganobuttermilk goodness prepared crispy or grilled served on Acme ciabatta with goat cheese, arugula, tomatoes & Barn madebuttermilk dressing . We choose grilled chicken, sandwich was good portion size again we spilt the sandwich so it was not heavyfor us only thing is we found it little bit chewy otherwise it was good. 3) Storm side Mac & Fry - It comes with Fries & 2pieces of Mac & Cheese fried cubes. So amazing! All the food was delicious. I had the street dog and the Mac and cheese bites and cannot recommend them enough!
The restaurant had a very homey atmosphere and the staff was very kind. The burger was phenomenal and very juicy, and the... homemade American cheese had the flavor of nicer cheeses while having American cheeses satisfying texture. The fries were alsowell seasoned and crispy, reminiscent of McDonald?s fries. The Chicken Sandwich and fried Mac and cheese however were both verybland and borderline flavorless. My family also seemed to enjoy the food and they said it would be a perfect place if they wereto add onion rings. Overall, I would recommend coming to this place if you want a great burger and fries. Food was great! I had the barn burger, but had the spices on the side. The shakes was "home" to body and soul. Parking and... waiting in line can be a small challenge especially if your hungry, but worth the wait. Definitely a revisit! Read more
Very cute and delicious roadside place. Burgers were fabulous. Fries were crispy, but could have used a tiny bit more salt. The... homemade ketchup was a plus. Our milkshakes were fantastic!! My kids loved their Caesar salads with garlic bread croutons. Friedmac and cheese was good and my son loved it. Downside was that we were almost done with our drinks by the time our food wasready and we were really trying to drink them slowly. Amazing spot! The food is incredible, there?s parking and lots of outdoor seating. Several vegetarian/vegan options. I got the... veggie burger and it was soooo delicious. Will have to try the jackfruit sandwich next time. The pie, cookies, and milkshakeswere all amazing. Read more
