Local Lakeview Hidden Gem! I was recently on a scenic tour around twin lakes in Halifax, when I noticed the beautiful lakeview... establishment 550 Tavern and Event Venue. It happened to be a rainy day outside, but inside we were greeted with a very warmwelcoming local staff. The hostess, grade A+ for her genuine hospitality. The wait staff were prompt attentive knew the menu andmade wonderful suggestions. The menu had wonderful mix of veggie, NE seafood, salads, chicken, and beef options together withtraditional pub tavern favorites i.e. pizza, wings burgers and panini's. The Tavern had a specials menu and Prime Rib is on itThursday to Saturday, I will return with friends for that! In addition, they have a wonderful breakfast menu Wen-Sun. I can sayI will be back to try it. The menu is fantastic. The 505 Tavern is attached to a venue event space, no doubt the food and theserenity of the lake atmosphere is great. On this visit we tried the NE Clam chowder made on premise, garlic aioli chicken wingsand a classic cheeseburger. All food was hot, generous portions and tasted excellent. The Tavern had a main dining area, outdoorlakeside patio and large bar area. The clientele were a mix of families with children, young couples and older couples. I recently went in with my 77 year old mother to grab some food . I walked in with my water bottle because they only serve tap ... . We dat down no 1 said anything including the waitress about my water , she even asked if I wanted something I said ill keepthis because you only have tap.. she was fine with it 15 mins later food comes out. Now I'm approached by the hostess and Ibelieve maybe a manager and asked to leave because I had the water and they didn't know if it was alcohol...mind you I don'tdrink I'm a body builder. I thought it wad very disrespectful do to the circumstances. The buff dip was trash all cream cheese, and the food was sub par. . I will never go back to this establishment again... Read more
After my Granddaughters Graduation the whole family went to dinner The waitress and hostess were awesome kind and very... welcoming. The food however was awful childrens Mac and cheese was Kraft Mac and cheese Seafood dinner was frozen microwavefood And the steak tips 3 people ordered and didn?t eat them because they tasted bad Such a disappointment Read more
Very loud inside, but it was clean. ?Medium rare? prime rib came out medium well. Attempted to send it back but was first told... it was medium rare in center, and it wasn?t. ?It ran brown not red, and was barely pink in the center. Then was told by themanager that they didn?t have medium rare because it was all cooked at once. Today wasn?t my first prime rib. So, I ate part ofit and ate my sides. The potatoes were great and the mixed veg was good too. My sons? burger was very good. My husbands turkeytips were ok, over cooked, but a good flavor. My dogs would have loved the rest of my prime rib, but I left over half of it, andshe didn?t offer to wrap it up, she just cleared it away. The waitress got a lousy tip because we were tired of watching herchit chat instead of coming back to take our card, so we left $100 bill for an $88 check. Hey, came out for drinks and apps. My martini was amazing. But we ordered the bone in wings from the app menu. To be fair, it... did say jumbo. Someone could have warned us they are WHOLE WINGS. Very very difficult to eat. Not only messy, but very toughand chewy. Not a bad place not a bad atmosphere. And the drink was great, but the food?!? Questionable. Read more
Love this place! We like to sit at the bar and enjoy drinks and a meal. Even during busy times the bartenders are awesome and... attentive. Servers are wonderful too. Food is always delicious! I recommend the pickle fries. I've gotten to know the owner,Amanda, as we had our wedding at the Lakeside Villa attached to the restaurant and she is amazing. Read more
