We wanted a special restaurant as it was our last weekend away for our second baby arrives. DaMaurizio did not disappoint! From... the minute we walked in we felt like special guests. The hostess was so friendly and kind. Our server was funny, knowledgeableand provided great recommendations. We started with bread then the spiced olives & bruschetta - all of which were delicious! Ihad the pappardelle and my husband had the bolognese and they were both 10/10. We finished the meal with espresso, biscotti andtiramisu. The BEST food I had after going back home to Halifax! It was far better than any of the food I tried on a nameless top tier golf... resort where the food cost twice as much. My scallops and risotto were cooked to perfection and from what I was told, the wholetable was wholly impressed at the quality of the dishes they had chosen. The service is great as well, friendly, engaging,dynamic and not overly present to the point you feel anyone is watching you over your shoulder (I'm sure many have been in thatsituation before). Overall a very nice dinner in a comfortable setting. The food was good - nothing exceptional, but good. The service was very... good, friendly and professional. A pretty good wine list with some unique bottles from Italy. A good choice for a nice dinnerout in Halifax. Read more
I was excited to try this place after seeing many positive reviews. I was disappointed with the experience. The hostess was... polite and helpful. Our server seemed inexperienced and at times dismissive. The wine I received did not look or taste like whatI had ordered and when I brought this to the server’s attention, she dismissed my concern and offered no replacement. Weordered calamari and arancini for appetizers. The calamari was delicious. I had the tartufo e pollo pasta for a main dish andfound it to be very bland. Went to this restaurant with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. The service & environment were great but the food was so... bad. First of all, bread wasn’t serve with olive oil and vinegar. Even worst, they were plain & cold. It really doesn’t looklike a fine dining level. Then my husband’s Angus beef was overcooked and my truffle pasta has no truffles favour. It justlooked like a cream sauce with chicken. I won’t recommend this restaurant to my friend. Read more
Disappointed. The place isn't a fine dinning any more with the new team. We booked couple days ago and got seated at a tiny... table under the stairs. The host looked at us and kinda speaked with her eyes that, she knows it sucks but couldn't do anything.The music was too loud that made me think for a second I went into a bar. Maybe I should've left when I heard the loud music.Later our drinks come and find something looks like a cooked piece of cilantro in the glass (it was coke). We ordered musselsfor sharing. The mussels taste fishy, and definitely previously frozen and didn't kept well. There were seaweed pieces on theshell indicating they probably didn't wash the mussels well. The server just took the not even half finished plate withoutasking how was it. The main dishes were just okay, nothing impressive, and the plating has changed very much.
