The oysters were good. I think there are other places in Halifax that have higher quality oysters but for the price point, you... can’t bear Shuck. The reason I took a star off is because of the service. For an oyster place, you expect your server to knowthe oysters. When asked the difference, our server said there are 8 different kinds. She knew where they were from but that wasabout it. She described some as larger than others but didn’t know which ones were. She also said some people think they alltaste the same. Service was slow, partially because I think our server was also the bar tender and seemed to be pulled in alldirections. I only came for HH oysters so I can only speak of that. I believe my server’s name was Maxine(?) and she was absolutely... lovely! Service was excellent, and she was super helpful with everything. They had a great selection on east coast oysters thewine selection was also lovely. The kitchen staff also did a great job with oysters recommendation when I couldn’t decide whatI’ve wanted. I’ll definitely come back again for HH and to try the rest of the menu! They have a cute outdoor patio and theinside was very nicely decorated as well. Definitely make a reservation if possible as it’s located downstairs of the hoteland gets filled quick quickly as soon as it opens. Read more
I love everything about this restaurant. We ordered lobster dinner (different daily - $57 yesterday) and snow crab ($25) and a... few other dishes. They were beyond fresh and amazing. The boiled crab legs were delicious without any seasoning (takes some timeto get the meat though). The lobster dinner came with a side salad and they were both well prepared and balanced of flavor! Themost amazing dish we ordered was the mussels with xo sauce. I have to say that being an Asian this xo sauce is legit! Fish andchips were a bit on the dry side because they were breaded instead of battered. The cheesecake was delicious (I guess they weremade by the hotel chef?) Went for oysters during happy hour, $1.50 each. Got a mix of 4 kinds across two dozen, favourites being the Tuxedo and Lucky... Limes - meaty, briney and satisfying. Impressed with the shucking quality too. No shell bits and the meat was cleanly separatedfor easy eating. Mignonette was a good accent and not overpowering. Tried to get one more order in just as 6:00 rolled aroundbut the system can't provide the same happy hour price without manager approval, so just order all you want before happy hourends! Great food, flawless and personable customer service, wicked location! GREAT PATIO! If you’re looking for a restaurant close... to the harbor with excellent food SHUCK is the place. Friendly service and delicious oysters! You should definitely get the shuck combination oysters. Seafood soup was very tasty but... don’t expect it to be creamy as clam chowder. I liked calamari, it was super soft not chewy but I found it very salty.Definitely order main dish for salmon you will taste the ocean in your mouth :) the last but not least, duck wings were okay weordered sauce on the side. For a dessert loved the creme brûlée! You won’t regret ordering it at the end! Read more
Shuck was a great evening with delicious, fresh food and great service! The menu is diverse and focuses on fresh, tasty seafood... with options for people who do not like seafood. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible (except for the washrooms). Dishes area bit on the salty side, but perfectly cooked and simple. Read more
My now husband and I had our wedding here in Aug, we were so excited when we set the date to do it at our favourite date night... spot. We had a casual, indoor/outdoor cocktail style wedding and Melissa and the staff were so helpful and great every step ofthe way from setting the date planning and replanting the menu, set up, execution and catering to our every need. It reallyeliminated every worry I had as a bride of things going right at the reception and I was completely worry free. The food,especially the mini lobster rolls made specially from our request were a major crowd pleaser! Thank you so much for making ourday so special! Highly recommend for any private event! For reference we had about 75 guests, indoor and outdoor bar casualseating, musician and music (with own speakers) Shuck, and the RCR group are very accommodating and it was the best day ever!Our guests raved about the food and drinks!
