For my birthday I wanted to try a new place that had been previously recommended to me by a coworker so I chose Tako Sushi &... Ramen. The restaurant had a nice decor and was pretty casual. We did not have reservations but were seated promptly. One thingI noticed was how quick the tables were cleaned when people left which was nice to see. To start we order the seafood tempuraplatter and miso soup for my wife and I. We ordered the deluxe Maki combo, flamed tuna roll, mango roll, the bumble bee rollwhich we shared. My wife ordered the beef Tonkatsu which she really enjoyed. I tasted it as well just to try it and it wasdelicious. Our rolls were super fresh and very tasty. In all honesty I think the flavour and freshness of their spicy tuna rollis that best that I have had to date. The mango roll was sweet, fresh and full of flavour. Our waitress was great and veryknowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the service was quick. The only area of opportunity I could see waswith some pieces of the rolls as they did not appear to be tight enough. They were on the loose side and could have fallen apartbut they didn't. I am not sure if the rice was not sticky enough or if it was in the preparation but they were stilleditable. Overall I would rate this restaurant a 4.7/5 but will round up for the rating as the flavour, freshness of the foodand service were all fantastic. Thank you for the lovely meal and we will be back to try some other menu items. ???????? Read more

What a terrific experience....I arrived when they were just opening, the Chef was taking time to clean the glass coolers that... house the fish .... he was being really mindful, a good thing to witness. The service was attentive. Its a welcoming spacewith tables and booths and the restaurant was filling up with a number of Asians...also a good sign. I ordered Tuna Tatami andthe tempura vegetables...both were delicious. This restaurant deserves a return visit ....I highly recommend it. Read more

The sushi you must try in Halifax. This was the best Japanese food we had during our trip to the east. We used to have a nice... sushi dinner in St. John's which I thought should be the best but obviously I was wrong. You shouldn't miss sashimi, unagi pizzaas well as the hidden menu. Ramen was also good and kids loved so much. Read more

I heard nothing but amazing things from people who have eaten here, so I gave it a try while in town, and I was amazed! This is... by far the best seafood ramen I've ever eaten! The ingredients were all great quality and you could tell with every bite! I hadthe sushi as well, and it was the same amazing experience! We ate here both days of our trip because it was that good! Greatfriendly staff and a nice atmosphere! Read more

I tried the Tokyo ramen and the Haru bento, both lunch specials. There was nothing wrong with the food, but there was also... nothing fantastic about it either. Overall the sushi and ramen were both very mediocre and a bit disappointing considering thehigh rating. The fish did not seem very fresh and had a dryness that contributed to its blandness that the soy sauce could noteven help. The rice was also not quite soft enough, maybe due to being left out too long and having cooled off? The assortmentof tempura were great and fried nicely which I thought was the most enjoyable part of the bento. The ramen was decent with thesoup being a tad bit too salty but had a good texture. The ramen noodles were also nice and chewy, however the chasiu and eggyolk were both slightly overdone. The yolk should be more runny. The restaurant itself is very casual and I think a lot ofpeople from around the neighborhood dine here so it was quite lively. The staff are also very friendly and provide good service. It's fine for what it is, and I don't think there's anything worth raving about but that's just my opinion. Other reviewers seemto be enjoying it fine. Read more

This is our all time favourite Japanese restaurant! After coming back from Japan and wanting to find ramen locally, this was the... only place that tasted just like it did in Tokyo! The sushi is incredible with gorgeous presentation and I would highlyrecommend this to anyone looking for an excellent experience! Read more

This was my first experience with North American sushi and I was pleasantly surprised. This unassuming store is situated in a... tiny mini mall in an otherwise residential neighborhood but it is by far the best sushi in town on the basis of taste, portionsize, presentation and freshness. I?d never had cream cheese, tempura, or sauces added to the sushi before but I was very happywith the taste and the texture and I highly recommend trying it since it is quite different from traditional sushi. Greatexperience and my friend picked up the bill so it was even better. Thank you Tako Sushi and Ramen. Read more
