We were three couples coming for a special occasion. We heard great things and followed recommendations from reviews. We ordered... 7 dishes. The server we had was attentive.Unfortunately, the food ranged from disappointing to poorly prepared. Reviewers saidthey "best egg rolls in Halifax" but they were overfried and mushy inside. The barbecued pork was hard and dry. The gingerchicken had not a hint of ginger. The sweet and sour chicken was okay but nothing great. The salt and pepper shrimp were breadedOVER top of unpeeled shrimp. They were properly cooked once you removed the skin and batter but lacked any flavour. One spicybeef dish was tasty but the other beef dish was not memorable. I had called ahead to advise them that one person had some foodallergies. After explaining the situation with details, I was told that there were many options and our friend would have noissues ordering off the menu. In the end, the only thing our friend could eat was fried rice. Her dish came with only a veryfew, small shrimp. There was too much onion in every dish and few other vegetables other than a sparce amount of tiny slices ofred and green pepper. Overall, very expensive and a total disappointment. Read more
From all the reviews I was expecting to be blow away. This place is seriously overpriced. You?ll have sticker shock when you... first open the menu. Spring rolls were what you would call party size the ones you get from mnm. Smalllllll. We had one dish totry it as we?ve never been and the bulk was onions w a few other veggies thrown in. Went here due to the good reviews, but very disappointed. Outside looks very run down, wasn't even sure there was a sit in... restaurant available. Food was lukewarm, chicken was reheated and not fresh, dish was supposed to be slightly spicy, but almosttasteless. Close to the worst Chinese dish I have ever had. Only reason I gave it 2 stars was due to the very nice waiting staffand the restaurant looked very clean inside. Read more
Best place to have Peking duck within NS! My boyfriend isn?t a soup person but he loves the duck soup. Bamboo boots in the duck... stir fry make the flavour so fresh! Love love it! Best Chinese food in the city. The egg rolls are the best I've ever had anywhere. We always get a few to go for the next day... (they heat up well in the oven). The batter on the salt and pepper squid is so well seasoned. The garnish adds a good amount offlavour to it and it is not at all greasy. We had one of the specials, the Bao buns. I was impressed that they are cooked freshto order. The extra care put into making them can be tasted. They were the highlight of the meal for me and I hope they make itonto the permanent menu. A restaurant located on Bedford Highway specializing in Cantonese and Canadian Chinese dishes. The Xmas/NYE feast was a great... value for money, with 7 different dishes and a soup. The food also came in compostable containers which is much moreenvironmentally friendly than the styrofoam containers that many restaurants use. The taste of the dishes felt more cateredtowards the Canadian Chinese food with some food being more bland than usual (salt pepper squid) and some being way tooflavourful (the pepper in the pepper beef). Do not pass by this hidden gem on the Bedford Highway. I have never had an authentic Chinese food experience as I have at this... restaurant. The food is incredible. everything tastes so fresh and made to order and do not get me started on the eggrolls. Iwill not ever eat another eggroll in this city unless it?s from the Orient. My wife and I have gone here on several occasions,and are extremely happy. Every time we leave the food excellent the service outstanding. you must go to the orient and give it atry for yourself.
