I expected a nearly 100 year old inn to be quirky - so when the shower temp intermittently changed from steamy to cold and my... roller bag slid on its own, I chocked it up to the "experience." I expected small rooms, a NYC sized bathroom, and slantedfloors. In fact, that might even be part of the charm of staying in an older establishment. But there were things I was notexpecting. I'll start with positives: I was warmly welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and an offer to make a dinnerreservation at their restaurant (I'll do a different review on The Tavern). The common space decor was tasteful, clean, andelegant, parking was plentiful, guests were quiet and respectful, and the room was relatively clean. The negatives: we calledfor extra towels that were not received, the bathroom sink was broken and had been repaired with a strange green tinted gorillaglue that looked "unnatural," and our queen beds were actually full sized. There were also no desks in the rooms and one lowlylittle plug was all that we could find to charge our various phones, laptops, and electronics. Given the lack of options inHamilton, New York, I might give the place another chance if traveling for leisure, but I may look the town over to see if theyhave a charming experience that is a touch better. We stayed at The Colgate for three nights for my nieces wedding at MJTK farm. Her rehearsal dinner was at the Colgate and the... food was delicious. Staff were just AMAZING. Ease of checking in and out, housekeeping etc was excellent. The down size wasthe size of the room, bathroom, and there was no place to sit in our room. Read more
We worked with Emily to cater our Wedding Reception. From the initial taste test, to the final plated dinner at our wedding,... Emily was able to help us create a delicious and intimate dinner. She provided extra touches, like glitter in our signaturedrink. Even going above and beyond and helping the Groom with his boutonniere and taking a baby, while the mom could eat! 10/10would recommend! Be aware, though, they make the drinks strong! Read more
Reservation, yet was ignored by staff. One waitress finally asked if anyone had taken our order. Service then was a long time... coming. Cocktail was a disappointment, did not care to drink. Food was adequate but not exciting or praiseworthy. Pleasantrestaurant setting but luncheon did not deliver. Read more
I was visiting family at the Inn During a stay. The room was nice clean the price they payed was a bit high very small bath with... a queen bed. Not much room, personaly I would not pay 200 a night for such a small room. The food was nice lots to see inHamilton. Read more
The Colgate Inn is truly the perfect place to hold an event. We had the most beautiful wedding on 6/25/22 there. The food and... beverages are amazing. Above that the staff is accommodating, friendly and goes above and beyond to make everything special,especially the event coordinator Emily Barnes! She made sure our wedding day was perfect! By far one of the nicest hotels i have ever been at my entire life. The employees are all helpful and make you feel at home. The... decor is beautiful and the room was top notch and very clean.Highly suggest this hotel to all that are passing thru.Therestaurant is also excellent and warm cozy feeling! I stayed here on 11/29 as I was in charge of hosting my company?s holiday party here. It is truly one of my new favorite places... to stay. I?ve stayed in many hotels and inns over the years and this was one of the best. Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful andhistorical plus the staff are amazing. We had a great party and everyone at the hotel is truly lovely. I had the fortune ofbringing my dog Ripley and this hotel is extremely dog friendly. They were so sweet to him and treated him like a super star. Weplan to host more corporate parties here and I personally plan to visit in the future for my own little vacation. 10 out of 5stars for this place. Read more
