Mesa is a fantastic restaurant right in hamilton on James st. You know it?s good because of how busy it always is. The food is... fresh and tastes good. They have vegetarian options and lots of gluten free options. The nachos are awesome as is theburritos. They have no draft been unfortunately. Dessert is a bit lack lustre as well. Service is fantastic. The reason Ican?t give a 5 star review is the fact that as an authentic Mexican restaurant they should be service pork. Carnitas isabsolutely missing and it?s disappointing. Regretfully they gave halal options with really is a poor choice for those thatdon?t eat it. The meat would taste much better if they stayed away from it. Overall Mesa maybe somewhere that I like a lot butmay not come back due to the one complaint. This is because I?m forbidden to eat that and kosher. We have wanted to visit Mesa for some time and we finally had the opportunity tonight. We ordered different main dishes to... share. I ordered the burrito with green tomatillo sauce and beef barbacoa and it was probably the best burrito I've evertasted!! ????? We also tried the flautas with chicken and although they weren't terrible the big star of this plate was therefried beans, which was quite delicious. I found the flautas rather dry and was wishing they had a salsa or some sauce to givethem something more ???. We will definitely revisit and try some different options next time! Read more
Craving authentic Mexican food? This is one of the closest to Mexican food as you can get. The chimichanga was by far the better... dish than what I order. The braised beef is really amazing though and I recommend that protein as part of your selection. Thechurro was decent, but the sauce needs to improve. We had a really bland runny caramel sauce. I love this restaurant, I am from Calgary and anytime I am in Toronto I always make the Drive to Hamilton to eat at Mesa. It is... simply the best Mexican restaurant in Canada. I have eaten here around 7 times in the past few years and am so happy theysurvived Covid. They have actually opened up a Latin market next door called Lola. The extra hot salsa I could drink it! Iwould love to learn how to make this. I always start with the amazing guacamole, it's not just crunched up avocado this guac hasflavour! Could maybe be a tad chunkier. My Fav's are the Burritos or the Chimi and the chorizo is sooooooo good as afilling. This restaurant has also allowed me to visit and experience Hamilton and I like it, it's always nice to go for a walkand spend to much at the funky shops in the area or down in the parks by the lake. The place is hidden in Hamilton downtown. The food quality was good but lacked taste. We asked for medium spicy but got bland.... The service was good and price was reasonable. The washrooms are available but can be cleaner, also they are in thebasement. Parking on the road is impossible as usual for any downtime. There is a plaza nearby with available parking but forplaza customer. We went on weekend so used the plaza, try for paid parking in weekdays to avoid trouble. I'll go back if I amaround and hungry for quality, price and portions but hoping for better taste. Read more
The ambiance was great. The food was fresh and well presented. My favorite part was the hot sauce. Soft shell tacos and... chimichanga were so good. I would definitely recommend this place if you like spicy Mexican food. Read more
Great place, awesome food and our waitress was amazing plus funny. Tried their hot sauce, got about half way through. She... kindly brought me a litre of water when I had a little sweat and giggle on. 5 stars!! Thank you... If possible the onlyrecommendation I could make is if somehow??? The cash had loonies and toonies to swap for bills. We forgot change and it was alittle challenging to break a $5 ???????? Read more
