Here is an honest review of my experience at State & Main this evening. Started by waiting at the door for about 5 minutes while... multiple servers raced by us in panic which looked like a less than half full restaurant. We were sat and eventually greeted. Wewaited 40 minutes for a spinach dip that had cold pita bread.The wings came shortly after. These cold, tree bark, beef jerkywings absolutely sucked. I didn?t even feel comfortable paying for something I wouldn?t feed a dog. Server was nice but whocares when the food comes literally 40 minutes after ordering and cold. I would understand if the restaurant was full but it wasnot. I work in the industry and to have multiple servers walk by without greeting us or letting us know someone would be with usshortly was the first red flag.I drove 20 minutes because of these ?good? reviews. First time here and probably the last. Food was not that great tasting, poor value and temperature of food not hot. Spinach... dip was not appetizing as it was like a green purée. Fish tacos only came with 2 small tacos and were bland. I substituteddaily vegetables instead of fries and was charged extra. The asparagus was room temperature. The other meals at the tablejust lacked any sort of value for price charged. To top it off my drink sat empty most of the meal and was never offered arefill. Our first time here and definitely not our last. Service was impeccable. The spicy tuna tartar with crispy rice was absolutely... amazing and the flavours are ones I never experienced before in a tartar. There was more on the plate, I took the photo afterwe both had 2 each lol. The Rigatoni with shrimp, crispy prosciutto, peas and a creamy garlic black truffle sauce left mespeechless. ABSOLUTELY incredible service today. There was simply nothing like it. Jennifer was very approachable, friendly and amazingly... accommodating. She's was the epitome of customer service. She gave our party the appropriate space to converse and not bebombarded; she checked to make sure our glasses were replenished and she even took time out to help us take some photos tocommemorate our friend's birthday. The food came out quick and hot. Each course was paced out just right. Everyone from when wewere greeted at the front to the very end of our time at the restaurant were genuinely polite and friendly. Thank you for a veryvery great experience. We will be planning more visits in the near future for sure. When you pay to go out service makes aworld of difference. My friend tried a recommended drink but it wasn't to her liking. Jennifer immediately returned with adifferent choice to sample before offering a full glass of the new beverage. It's very rare to see a restaurant care that youenjoy your choice in beverage and not penalise you for the one you sampled. A very noble act that goes a long way. I highlyrecommend the calamari. I was hesitant on trying their fries because they're not fresh cut but the dill dip makes them verydelicious. My only other recommendation is that if you get the chicken club sandwich (which I thought was going to come onsandwich bread in a couple layers & not a bun), I'd ask for the bun to be toasted. I just found my sandwich to be soggy &difficult to enjoy. I did ask to take my sandwich home. I most likely will just transfer the insides of my sandwich onto adifferent bun for lunch tomorrow. First time at this restaurant Saturday November 13, 2021. Large group of us and service was good. Seven dollars for a mixed... drink for a vodka cranberry. Not many options on the menu that I personally liked and a bit pricey. I tried the truffle shrimprigatoni and it was good but I would have preferred there be more sauce as some of the noodles were dry. My husband enjoyed hissteak meal. Read more
The happy hour food and drink deals are great value. The parm crisps (homemade potato chips) are an excellent snack. The Mac n... Cheese is creamy and tasty. The spinach dip is something to avoid as it's too runny and lacks cheese. Pretzels with beer cheesedip is better. Service is always great and there's a good vibe. Read more
