Delicious down home, stick to your ribs food. Large portions. And inexpensive. Great service. Friendly folks.
We walked into the restaurant the hostess greeted us, she was very pleasant, there were two people in front of us so, of course... she sat them first and then she sat us, She told us to enjoy your meal and walked away. About 10 minutes later our waitresscame up to the table and told us she would be right with us. Once she got to us we gave her our order, you could tell she wasvery nervous, so I knew it was probably her first or second day maybe third. She was a very young Mexican girl. She didn't smileshe did not greet us she just walked up to the table and asked if we were ready to order. She took our order, about 5 minuteslater she brought us our soups and salads. She brought the wrong dressing on my salad which happens and I was okay with thatonce she brought me the correct one. And then our meals came and my friend had a ham and cheese croissant and I had a Mexicandish with a large burrito on it and chips. I do apologize, I wish I would have taken a picture, because I usually do. I assureyou, our food was delicious. The waitress came and asked if our food was okay and we asked her to bring us boxes, she brought usboxes and bags. She gave us her check and walked away and came back a few minutes later offering us dessert with our food. Youget ice cream or Jello or pudding with your order. If you're ever in Hammond and hungry I definitely suggest stopping by here,you get a lot of food for your money! And if you just happen to get a new waitress just remember everybody has to startsomewhere and they are very nervous and give them a break don't be rude to them even if they don't smile or greet you, becausethey don't know how to walk up to a table correctly yet. Give them at least a month go back ask for that waitress and see howmuch she has improved and you will see the difference. Food looked very flavorful. But looks were deceiving. I got the Italian pork chops with potatoes. Service was great and fast.... The only other issue was waiting to pay. We could have dined and dashed because no one wanted to come over to the cash register.Almost everyone looked our way and continued to do their tasks. By the time we flagged a person down there was a line of peoplewaiting to pay. The lady who did take our money thought we were waiting for a seat even though she was the one that sat us downat our table. Restroom was impressively clean as was the rest of the place. I've been told breakfast is 100 times better. Ifever that direction I will stop in to try it. Menu was like what country would you like to try, they had a little bit ofeverything. Nothing fantastic. I ordered a skillet and got an omelet. The server rang in an omelet so no fault of the kitchen. Had to ask... for coffee refills. Not going to hurry to go back. Read more

Since changing ownership the wheel has gotten better all around. The wait staff is nice now and they were just some straight... meanies before. Also the new food menu is very well versed, you are going to find something you want to eat for sure. The foodis better now as well. The old manager was a grumpy jerk and he didn't care that the waitress were so rude. So glad the wheelhas changed for the better. Read more
