We have been here on multiple occasions. We love the prime rib special, it is the absolute best. The portions are amazing and... the quality of the meat is top notch. Did not notice it at first and thought someone at the table had let one rip. Shortly after discovered that the front of the... restaurant smelt like sewage. Obviously over due on having the septic taken care of. A huge turn off! I kept wondering howpeople at the bar were still able to sit there?Ordered Ruben rolls which were made with ham or perhaps a very cheap corn beef?Another guest ordered the prime rib sandwich med-rare which was more like med-well. For years I've been hearing about MJ Stevens and how they are one of the best Fish Fry's in the area, so me and my girlfriend... decided to finally see what all the hype was about. We arrived and immediately I found the location and outside signage to bevery cozy and inviting. We were told that it would be a 25-30 minute way but the restaurant has a very nice outdoor Bar/Seatingarea. They also utilize an intercom system so it's very easy to hear when your name is called for a table. The amount of time wewaited was perfect, as I had an old fashioned at the bar and then the table was ready. We both got the 4 piece fish fry whichcosts around 20 dollars which I thought was pricey but boy was I surprised by the portions, 4 large pieces of fish, fries, breadand coleslaw. The fish isn't "generic" breaded cod that you get at some places, it has a very unique taste and you can see theseasoning on it. Overall I enjoyed the entire experience and I'm my opinion this is the best fish fry in Washington county. Read more
I hate leaving negative reviews and most of the time I will just refrain from reviewing at all. But? my dad and I are in town... visiting family. My son in law recommended this place for dinner. The server was okay. Friendly enough. But my son in law nevergot his salad even after asking for it after our main entree was served. The server even left the table saying she would beright back with the salad. It never came. Honestly the best part of my meal was the free bread and butter. I ordered theSherwood turkey sandwich. It was bland. Everything was bland. My dad ordered a burger from the main menu, not the kids. He wasbrought a plain burger. No lettuce or tomato, onions?. No condiments. It was dry. He asked for some veggies for it and she toldhim it doesn?t come with any but that she would go get him some if he wanted her to. What?! Who serves adult burgers withnothing but meat and cheese? I?m still flabbergasted. My grandsons spaghetti kids meal was a huge pile of noodles with a tinybit of sauce on top. On a Friday night, You should definitely expect a wait. It took a while to get a drink but I totally understand because it was... insanely crowded. The fish fry is absolutely the best around!! If your fish fry is focused on the fish, definitely come here! The pieces are very large and meaty and the breading is very... flavorful. The service was excellent considering how busy the place is. My only issue were the waffle fries. The fries wereclumped together and undercooked making it more like mushy potatoes rather than crisp fries. The coleslaw was crunchy and coldwhich was delicious. The Sunday brunch was absolutely delicious and plentiful! My coworker, his wife and I truly enjoyed the fresh line that... consisted of salad, fruit, Scrambled eggs, prime rib Hash, Talapia, etc etc amongst a beautiful selection of desserts. The makeyour own omelet was equally as good, if not my favorite. Even though a few large parties were near by, I didn't have to shout orstruggle to hear my friends. The service was great from hostesses to the omelet station cook to the server. We will be backsoon and my parents literally went 5 days after I told them how much I liked it.
