Had appetizers and lunch. Been 15 years and the MayFair is still a great place to grab lunch. I had mini tacos and was... surprised, there were at least a baker's dozen, served with salsa , sour cream , pretty good. Then I ordered fish tacos withcod and Chinese coleslaw which was good, my only recomdation is.. have them squeeze the slaw. Also enjoyed a Two Hearted ale.So I will be back to enjoy another great watering hole. Read more

Was here in Oct '19. Went for late lunch. Place nearly empty. Had an excellent burger & fries with a cold draft. Very good... friendly service. Looks like a very casual neighborhood bar. A little worn/ tattered. Still a comfortable atmosphere. Has thatsuper casual dive bar feel. The restroom was also worn looking, but functioning. Plan to return soon. Normally just go to BlueGill Grill for some menu favorites. Read more

Great neighborhood pub with attentive service and affordable prices. The menu is not massive, but everything they serve is done... well. Roof deck has a view of Lake Lansing. Been here a few dozen times now, and it's no mystery why this place has been openfor more than half a century.... It's well run and everyone who works here cares about providing good service. Wow - this place seriously went to hell. Sat on the rooftop on a nice day, so that was a bonus. Immediately ordered food and... drink. Got the drinks and waited over an hour for food that never showed. The waitress never checked on us for drink refillsand we had to flag her down for that. Never tried get our food and just was just ?oh well? when we told her we were cashingout. Good help is definitely hard to find, so it appears. Read more

Like some of the other reviews on here, I am also not quite sure how this bar has the high rating that it does. The young lady... who seated us was very friendly and attentive. The first thing that I ordered was a beer. They have a decent selection of beerson tap, and it was a nice surprise to find a few that I had not tried. It arrived quickly and was very cold. *Spoiler Alert*This beer turned out to be the highlight of our meal. My fiancee and I decided to try a couple of different items from themenu, and ended up ordering The Duke Burger and the nachos. The Duke Burger was decent, but definitely nothing to write homeabout. The onion rings that came with it were clearly straight from the freezer section of a budget conscious shopping center. If that wasn't already bad enough, they were also overdone and flavorless. The "staff favorite" nachos as they were listed madethe burger seem like an award winning meal from a fine dining restaurant. The portion was large and enough to feed two, but thiswas the only thing going for them. Every component to the dish tasted cheap. Whatever flavor was incorporated in thisdelicatessen was clearly lost during it's long trek from the kitchen to our table. As my fiancee correctly stated, "These arethe kind of nachos you would eat while drunk, and not touch at any other time." I couldn't agree with her more. Read more
