Fantastic food and beer, and priced right. I pass thru Hays a few times a year and have been here ~5 times and never... disappointed. Pretzel is enormous, but I wasn't crazy about the cheese dip, and all they have is yellow mustard - a goodpretzel deserves real mustard. Chicken fried chicken, reuben, wings.... are all great. A really cool spot in Hays. Not too far off the interstate so we decided to pop in for lunch on a Sunday to break up a long trip... across Kansas. We had an Amber Ale and Pale ale and both were flavorful, clean, and crisp. Very good and very reasonable. Thefood was a bit bland though. The Italian salad lacked a good volume of toppings for a $15 salad. Otherwise pretty decent. Thegrilled cheese panini was very plain tasting. Could benefit from including a veg or sauce in the sandwich. Good service andthere appears to be a pretty great vegetarian winter menu coming out but wasn't available yet. Read more

First, love the name. The meaning didn't occur to me until reading the description on the menu. My mom still uses the German... word all the time. Atmosphere, service and food was great. Stopped here while driving through town on road trip. I marked thislocation based on a news article about diners. We all enjoyed our meals. I enjoyed their version of Reuben sandwich. All theirsandwiches might be made in a Panini press, which adds a great touch. The house made chips were tasty especially withhorseradish sauce. Service was great. Our server often checked on us. Fantastic meals. We came here once 6 years ago and was very impressed. This time we visited and food & services still as... fantastic as it was years ago. We visited twice on our road trip, yes it?s that?s good. Appetizer: Gella?s chips, so good, thewhole family love it Main dishes: 1) beef stroganoff- my favorite dish here, beef so well seasoned and tender, sauce and noodle is perfect. 2) fish & chips - my kid said it?s the best fish and chip for her 3) pesto pasta - so good that my kid ordered thisinstead of fish & chip on our second visit. (She tried mine on the first visit) the nice thing about this dish is it stilltaste good if you have leftover and warm it up the next day. 4) their German chocolate cheesecake is da bomb. Soooo good withtoasted coconut flakes in decadent sauce and super delicious cheesecake. Perfect way to end a meal. Service is top-notch. Our meal was absolutely delicious. The beef stroganoff was so tender with the cream sauce with just the right amount of spice.... The chicken fried chicken was also fabulous. I highly recommend the pretzel appetizer with the port spread. The prices arereasonable and the restaurant was clean. The cooks take such pride with their dish prep and I appreciate how much care wasgiven. Our waitress Christie went above and beyond! She made sure to explain the different local favorites and refilled ourdrinks. Her personality was very bubbly. This was a great experience for two travelers. Read more

Surprising find for vegans and vegetarians in Western Kansas! Stopped through here on my way to SW Kansas and was very pleased.... They had more vegan options than listed on their main menu. They also have a Seasonal Menu that offered this sandwich with tofu,beet hummus, sprouts and avocado. They also have a mushroom burger, pita and hummus appetizer, beans salad and a few otheroptions.
