You can make the pasta and salad better at home, so stick with the pizza if you're eating here. It's a family joint which... frequents a LOT of crying toddlers and babies, so look elsewhere for datenight, folks. Three stars because out of an entiremenu of things to order, pizza is the only thing worth getting. Staff is friendly, but even when things are slow, they taketheir time handling things which means when you're ready to go, you might as well leave your table and fish for someone to helpyou pay your bill. Placed an online order at 4 pm and selected a pickup time of 5:45 pm. The order was 2 salads and some artichoke dip. Arrived... promptly at 5:45 pm to be told my food, namely the dip, was not yet ready. I waited an additional 15 minutes for the dip to beprepared. Note, this dip simply needed to warmed up. No part of this meal was comped or given credit. And I tipped when I placedmy order. Moral of the story: while the food is ok, don't expect stellar service, or any customer service at all, and expect towait for your food, despite placing a takeout order nearly 2 hours in advance. Since Covid has started, many restaurants have had struggles with staffing. MacKenzie River may fall into that category. I have... visited this location a few times this year. Each time, I have had a delay in getting our food. Today, the parking lot was halffull and staffing looked like they had plenty of personnel. Also in today's economy, You can look to spend almost $100 for afamily of 5. It is what it is. However, with having to spend the money, a customer should expect excellent service and goodfood. Service was very poor. After taking our order, we needed to call out to our server for service. The only time we wereasked how everything was, was when we received our bill. Unfortunately, our food was cold when we received it. Cardinal rule,don't send your food back to the kitchen. Helena already has a poor reputation for choices in restaurants. MacKenzie River hasan easy opportunity to have a positive reputation due to the lack of competition. But the quality that was provided today, Itwon't take much to turn people away. Read more

Lunch special option was good, half sandwich or small pizza with a salad or other starter. The spinach salad was delicious and... substantial, with candied pecans and dried cranberries. always stop by here when coming home to Montana. Was glad to see that they were nice and busy. We got in right away and the... service was great.was happy to hear that they had cold smoke on tap and it went great with the pizzas that we ordered. Unfortunately something was going on with the nachos this visit. They came out about ten minutes after the pizza and justwasn't up to the normal standards that MRP hits.
