In response to the comment about waiting an hour for their food. I can understand that could be frustrating but please keep in... mind that the food is prepared fresh on / in a wood stove in the Swiss Traditions. My brother, friends and I stayed there everyOctober and November during Bow hunting season and Gun season for Deer for many years until an automobile accident took mybrother and paralyzed my best friend on our way home from our hunting trip several years ago. Eleanor treated us like family andI love the people and the great memories I have thanks to the wonderful people of the Swiss Village. The goats even loved meand I loved them back. I was just looking at some old photos of myself petting them. They would always greet me happily. Blessyou all and thank you for the wonderful memories. One of my favorites was harvesting a 300 pound , 5 1/2 foot tall Bear with myBow. And the leaves on the 35 mile drive from French Creek in October is the most spectacular experience . I would get soexcited every year. And a moon beam show through the low moving clouds on Turkey Bone before daylight one year was the mostincredible thing I've ever seen in my life. My family visited The Hütte again this past week, and we always leave so incredibly happy! We truly feel like we?re visiting a... family member?s home to eat a great meal! We absolutely love every nook and cranny you can dine in here. The staff has alwaysbeen exemplary. Every dish I have ever ordered has been fantastic. You can taste the love that goes into these homemade meals.(I wish I would have remembered to take a photo of our food, but we were living in the moment) We feel incredibly lucky to havethis place in our home state. For the price, I'm underwhelmed. Yes everything is homemade. All the way down to the small bit of cheese they offer. However, I... feel that for a simple plate meal and no options, it's kinda pricy. The atmosphere could not be better. You honestly feel likeyou went back in time 80 years to a public house that serves food and beverage. Read more
Is the long drive out to this place worth the time and effort??? Yes, ABSOLUTELY!!!! We got a ham dinner and the bratwurst.... Ham was good. Bratwurst was amazing. Rosti was perfect. Sauerkraut and apple sauce were both excellent. Cheese was delicious.Salad was fresh with delicious dressing and lots of fresh veggies. Fresh flowers and cheese plate come with the meal. We are inthe library. If this is Swiss cooking than I am officially neutral (thank you). Scenery and Service are great. The beauty ofthe spot can not be properly expressed in words or pictures. Ordered the cheese and fruit plate to-go. Very pleased with the service and food. Staff was attentive and noticed our family... of 4 in our car, ensured that our cheese and fruit tray was filled full for us to share. Cheese was amazing and the fruit wasreally fresh! The food is delicious and full of flavor. Best bratwurst and sauerkraut I've ever had. Worth the trip along the curvy mountain... roads to get there. Be warned, on Sunday they do a special only, no dine in (assume covid) and they take cash or check only -no plastic at all. So, get your cash and go. It's worth it. Read more
