Picked up takeout after work one day only to take a bite into a piece of broken glass or hard plastic. Called the store... immediately to inform them and the woman who answered was extremely apologetic and offered to refund me for my meal.Unfortunately, the piece of glass chipped my tooth and I ended up with a $300 dentist bill for a filling. For the small amountof food I ate, it was delicious, but sadly I'll never eat here again due to someone in the kitchen not following proper healthcodes. Read more

My fiance and I would go here for dollar tacos every Wednesday. We would usually get the same waiter which is an older... gentleman. He is usually very snippy and rushes us to order. Normally we just deal with it in hopes that we will get the otherwaiter the next time as he is very attentive and has a good personality. This last visit we were in the normal waiters section. He came to the table to get drinks after 5 minutes of us sitting down waiting. He walked away halfway through our drink order. I first ordered and before my fiance got to order the waiter tried to walk away again. We ordered Queso and only got one bowlof chips. Someone else even brought our food and for 20 minutes he refused to come to our table. He was cleaning other tableswhile our drinks were empty and our cheese sauce became cold. We tried to get his attention and were continuously ignored. Ifinally went to the lady up front asking for a manager. Instead she got the waiter. I asked for the check and told him to takethe queso off since we didn't even get to enjoy it. Then instead of him picking up payment I had to go to the front to pay. Thelady told me "well you know how the restaurant life is now." The food was great and the younger waiter is amazing but we willnever go back after that experience. Read more
Fantastic place. Great choices on the menu and great prices. Wednesday is 1.25 tacos so a great deal. Service is great! Go there... enough they know my kids names. Outdoor seating as well. Street tacos (Al Pastor) and Pollo Hawaiian are my top pics! Read more
Our family eat at Rico off Nuckols road regularly. This is our first time visiting this location. Same great food. My husband... is on low carb diet, they sautéed the Carnitas with onion and pepper. My husband thinks Rico?s has the best Carnitas. Ourwaiter worked very hard by himself. He didn?t talk much but he frequently checked on us. I think I've tried all of this type of Mexican restaurant in the Short Pump area, and Rico's is my favorite by far. I don't even... look at other Mexican restaurants anymore (unless there's a new place that opens with great reviews, then I'll try it :)) I'vehad Rico's dine-in, carry out and delivery - all excellent by comparison to other local options. This location has a smallcovered patio. The inside is spacious; tables & booths do not feel cramped. The wait staff have all been friendly &courteous. I messed up my to-go order on my short lunch break one day and ordered carry out from the Glen Allen location whichis too far from my office to pick up without being late getting back to work. I went to John Rolfe Pkwy thinking I had orderedthere as usual, but found I had not. Left & called to cancel the order at the wrong location. They said they would transfer itto JRP - Did I want to carry-out or delivery? I was so grateful because otherwise I was having no lunch. I chose delivery & itarrived in ~10 minutes. That is excellent customer service! My favorites are #1 Chips (fresh, not too heavily salted, I alwaysget extra for carry-out/ delivery & Keep them in airtight storage containers at home instead of buying store-bought); #2 redsalsa (perfect, I could drink it - just enough heat to be spicy without hurting my lips); #3 cheese dip (because it wouldn't bemy favorite Mexi restaurant unless the cheese dip was so good it makes you tear up when you taste it); #4 chicken + shrimp &chorizo entree; and #5 carnitas entree. I've had other menu items & all have been good/great: fresh guacamole, cheese + chorizodip, husband's carne asada (yum!), lime margaritas on the rocks. The bar looks well-stocked, and I know they had a nice range oftequilas the last time we ate in ~6 months ago. They also had Dos Equis amber on draft, which was nice.
