The Sampler Box gives you a good survey (and generous portions - you could easily share) of Ronnie?s more-than-respectable... hickory-smoked BBQ. Pulled pork was sweet, moist, and smoky, and a lesson for Carolina pitmasters, lacking only the vinegarsauce. Fall-off-the-bone spare ribs were excellent - slightly chewy meat with a great bark. Brisket was moist, smoky, andtender, and adding a touch of sauce made it delectable. The monstrous chicken leg was done perfectly and pulled apart in moist,tender chunks. Sauce is a slightly tangy, slightly sweet tomato-based concoction that complemented everything well. We had never been here but as we were biking by on the Capital Trail we saw a LOOONGGGG line of cars waiting in the parking lot... and our nose told us there was something incredible going on over there... On the way back we stopped and ordered the samplerbox which was delivered in just a few minutes. Meanwhile we had the treat of sitting at the picnic table and chatting withRonnie, the genius behind this place. Everything was over-the-top too-good-to-be-true! The ribs! Oh, my word! I did not go this particular day, but worthy of a five star review from a previous visit. Lines are always long, but it was... worth the wait the day my family and I visited. Our food was great and their service was good also. Had bar-b-q sandwiches, Macand cheese, collards, and yams between the four of us. Worth the money truly, nice good people, good drinks too. They made inhouse lemonades, which you should never go wrong with. No pictures anymore, but I would return. Read more
The best brisket we have found in Virginia! Food was fresh, hot and DELICIOUS! Service was impeccable and they could not have... been nicer and more helpful. We had passed by many times and always noticed a long line. Today we happened by at just the righttime, and it is so worth the time to stop. Definitely one of the best meals we have had in quite some time. This is certainly anew favorite restaurant for us. If there is a line, don't fret - it's well worth the wait! Read more
The lady who came out and took the order and brought the food was nice. We have been looking for some place that serves great... Carolina style Bar-B-Que and this wasn't it. It didn't really have any flavor. So I guess we will keep looking. It was kind ofexpensive for what we got. No buns were included with the 1lb. Bar- B- Que and 1lb. Cole slaw. Everything was delicious. We ordered online and did not have to wait too long for the order to come out once we arrived. The... fish box was well seasoned. The bbq sauce was sweet with a little spice. I loved the hush puppies. The ribs were tender Everything we ordered was good.
