Used to be the go-to spot for dosa but the service and experience has gone down. There is no table service but they charge you... top dollar as if they do. There is no water provided to you, rather you have to go to the front of the restaurant to get somefunky smelling water from a dispenser (and repeat if you want more water as you are eating). The only thing the restaurant doesis bring you food to the table and I wouldn?t be surprised if they change this soon as well. You better not want more lassi asyou are eating tho because you?ll have to go back on line to order it and by that time your food is cold. Makes no sensewhatsoever at all. Won?t be going back. I went with high hopes seeing the other reviews. The food was very oily and the taste was just average. Not worth the price.

I've been coming here for a while with friends / coworkers and decided it was time for a review. I was new to Southern Indian... cuisine, but Jay and his entire staff are friendly and helpful with answers to your questions and suggestions if you're stuck. The food is fresh and delicious and comes in a good size portion. Try the mango yogurt drink, especially if you need to coolyour mouth down after trying something spicy. I enjoy trying different dosas each time I go and I haven't been disappointed yet.If you're going to give House of Dosas a try (I recommend you do), be sure to hit the ATM on the way as they are a cash onlybusiness. One of the oldest original Dosa places on Long Island. Things have changed a bit now however. You need to go order at the... counter so it does not have the proper sit down dining experience and more of a Cafe type of a vibe. Food was up to standard. The Sambar tasted a bit different but not bad. The restaurant is also interconnected with another store that sells Indianstatues. Worth a visit for sure. Read more

Disappointed .... Used to be one of the best places to go for south Indian food but they seem to have lost their roots with an... upgrade to the decor. You now have to go to the counter to place your own order as no table service is provided. Water isplaced outside the eating area close to the front door, so you either have to walk past everyone & go get your own water. Iguess the feel like they need to sell more bottled Poland springs. Food tasted sour or burnt. Maybe will try again in a fewmonths and give them another shot. Read more

Authentic #southindian treat. It was so delicious and the waiter was also very polite. Tried, idli bada, dahibada, salted lassi... and my fav: carrot halwa with vanilla icecream. Read more
