Reviews for East LA in Hoboken, NJ

Nothing less than entirely average, borderline below average. The free chips and salsa throughout the meal made my Midwest roots... very happy and the service was great, too, keeping us at a 3-star review. But the pork burrito was bland and the same size (ifnot smaller) as something I could get at Taco Bell or Chipotle. If you're expecting the traditional comically-large,plate-dwarfing burritos you can find at a lot of Mexican restaurants, this isnt it. There's only one burrito option on theone-page menu, too. Usually, I'm a champion of this level of simplicity in meal preparation but at East LA, the restaurant ismade worse for it. The coconut margarita was tasty but also came in a smaller-than-usual portion for frozen margs. For $32with a tip, I can't say I'd go back or recommend it for first-timers, either. The usual mentality is that the West Coast has thetrue best Mexican food. But East LA isn't doing the City of Angels any justice. Read more

Meat was Epic! The cutting style and softness of fresh meet on fajitas were naturally delicious. Also the owner was very humble... and welcoming to foreigners? needs with his flexible kitchen. For me, it?s an international quality but %100 MEXICAN! ???? Read more

East LA has been my go-to frozen margarita place since I moved to North Jersey and discovered this cute little place. The place... is small inside and since the restrictions have been eased, they?re back to full capacity, but they still offer outdoor seatingif you like. The happy hour is from 3-6pm, but just know they?re always busy. And don?t let the plastic cups fool you becausethey hold the same amount, so you are not getting less than what you paid for. There's a reason why this establishment has been around for DECADES. Never disappointed with food and drink quality. A big thing... for me is not having peppers too mushy, and my fajita veggies are always perfectly crisp. You can't fault the place for the lackof servers, that's just the way things are now, but these servers always seem to rush to your table. The food is hot and freshoff the grill. I'll always like this place. Never had a bad experience, except for the brunch debacle of 2002, 3 margaritas eachat the table and 3 more at the bar after we ran into friends. Got home not knowing how we got there... Read more

No Jain (without onion / garlic) food options available. The only thing dish offer was a cheese enchiladas. They have... unlimited chips & salsa which my friends enjoyed. Wished they could prepare fresh Guac. Their rice contains chicken. Read more

Simplified menu with all the traditional favorites. Good food, great frozen margaritas and good service. Disappointed however... they feel they need to automatically charge 20% gratuity. I do not feel a $13 drink ordered necessarily should cost $14.60. Orthat the public is not capable of tipping accordingly. Should gratuity automatically start at 20%? What happened to 15 and 18%?These servers are making $60 per hour+ for serving Mexican style McDonalds. I have a college degree and don?t make half that. 2ppl X 2 taco orders X 2 frozen margaritas + tip = $60.38 Read more

Pros: - Indoor and outdoor seating space. - Unlimited chips and salsa. - Delicious food and big portions. - Tacos are a must... have. - Fancy cocktails, would definitely recommend CoronaRita. - Good range of Veg and Non-Veg options. - Courteousstaff. Could Be Better: - The flavors in mocktail could be more natural, the canned ingredients makes them sloppy. Read more
