I absolutely love their bakery ???? the cheese Danish is so good. All their baked goods are delicious but that one stands out.... They have a pretty big selection of meats, deli meats, seafood, produce.. etc. Staff is friendly and the store is always cleanwith stocked shelves. Their pizza is also pretty good and reasonable. Big Y is a scam. Produce rarely lasts more than a day or two. Bananas come both green and freckled. Berries are likely... already growing mold at time of purchase. I?ve had a tough time finding certain products that other grocers carry. Prices areastronomical, even with the savings card. And if you?re like my family member who was visiting from out of town and made themistake of stopping here, you can?t use a store card or sign up to get the sale prices on the purchase you?re making. Beyondthat, 10 cents per brown bag is robbery. My family member had no idea about this sham policy and got stuck at checkout. Big Ydefinitely takes advantage of being the only grocery store in town, but it?s worth the extra ten minute drive out to?anywherebut here. Holden can do better than this. Read more
I have going to The Big Y in Holden for years. I have always gotten great service. Two weeks ago I broke my right wrist and now... have a very large cast. I have been to the store three times since and was lucky to get two very special members of your staff.Dolly and Kathleen. K packed each of my bags lightly so I could pick them up without a problem. K also offered ti help me loadmy bags into my car. Kudos to both Dolly and Kathleen!!! Read more
I?ve been shopping in Big Y markets for 6 years now and I have to say they are quite affordable and have a variety of items on... sale? BUT, I had 3 encounter with a Alyssa one of the cashier?s manager who every time I asked her to use the store discountcard she refused it, giving the absurd excuse that ?is for out of the state travelers only?. Not only that I was getting 5different gifts cards for the holidays and she refused to sell them because ?I was not a registered customer for Big Y inHolden???!!? I felt discriminated as the only non-Caucasian customer in the store at that time. Read more
Stopped in and got a half pound of their tortellini pasta salad while visiting my sister from out of town. The mini mozzarella... balls were totally rancid. I?m lucky if I don?t drop dead from food poisoning. Read more
Wonderful to shop here,nice variety of domestic and imported foods. Produce, meat, and fish are so nice and fresh. They close on... holidays to allow their employees family time, and they have delightful and caring helpers. Big Y hires folks with intellectualchallenges,and I support that 100%! Read more
