We had an enjoyable lunch at Walter's Basin this afternoon. We were seated at a table overlooking Little Squam. The Autumn sun... was beating through the glass and made us very uncomfortable at first because it was like being in a greenhouse and the sun wasblindingly bright even behind the braided blind. The restaurant would be wise to put some awnings over these south facingwindows because their woven blinds provide no protection at all. Our server was very good. My wife ordered the Haddock Sandwichwith an Arnold Palmer and I enjoyed the fish Tacos with a Sebago Red Ale. The tacos featured haddock with cabbage and a SirachaAoili on a flour tortilla. The tacos also came with fries and a lemon wedge. I added the red onion my wife removed from her fishsandwich. That actually helped the otherwise somewhat bland tacos. The haddock was lightly breaded and perfectly fried so itwas deliciously sweet and crisp. Maybe using coleslaw would make them more interesting than just plain white cabbage. My wifeenjoyed her sandwich and a luscious Crème' Brulee for desert. We've been to Walter's Basin a number of times and keep comingback because the food is good and served in beautiful surroundings. We absolutely loved eating here, and would come back again. Our waiter was really friendly, and helpful in picking out what to... eat. I had a delicious flounder sandwich special with a side of sweet potato fries.... YUMMY. Our view was amazing, we ate,chatted, and enjoyed the scenery. 10/10 Read more
Love Squam Lake area and had lunch at Walter's Basin. The shrimp cocktail sauce was the best if you love spicy, but it has 3... other sauces served with it. Very good! Fish taco was good too. Amazing small local restaurant. I?ve been coming here for more than a decade growing up! Really good food and atmosphere as well... as homemade deserts. Awesome beer and cocktails! Olivia our waitress was some of the best service we got in awhile! Read more
The staff is friendly and quick. The food is to die for. I got the Korean BBQ sandwich and the Chocolate Cheesecake. I would... absolutely go back and order this again. I went with my dad and step mom who got fish tacos and said they were amazing. Thelounge area where you first enter is very nice with places to sit, games, and a moose you can take pictures with. Probably weirdto mention but even the bathrooms were very nice, though there were only two stalls so you might have to wait if it's busy. Youcan also sit in the bar area, but we sat in the dining area next to the window with a beautiful view of the lake. You can buyT-shirts and such at the front area, too. It was over all a very pleasant dining experience, I cannot recommend it enough. Read more
My mom and I came to this area due to recommendations from my coworker when visiting New Hampshire. A lot of the restaurants are... not open during the fall, but this one was. It has a big dining area overlooking a beautiful lake. We ordered a seafood paella,a lobster roll and a couple of local beers. The food was good, not amazing or anything, but solid. The paella was more like ajambalaya than a paella, but it had lots of different types of seafood (only about 2-3 pieces of each type) and it had sausagewhich I?ve never had in a paella. The lobster roll was my first, so I can?t compare it to anything I?ve eaten in the past but itwas good. The food was a bit pricey $24-30/entree for the amount we got. If you?re looking for a beautiful view with good food,Walter?s Basin is a solid choice. Read more
This is the top choice referred by my airbnb. Indeed, The food was delicious and the view was awesome. The business was good.... So, you might need to wait if you don't have reservation. You can either wait at the bar or the rest area in front of ofreception. It's a very comfy environment to enjoy your meal. The staffs were friendly and the service was good. Definitelyrecommend!....
