I have had Cafe Madrid on my list of places to try for a few years now. I decided to try it for my birthday dinner this year... with my family. The ambiance is cute on the outside and the inside is interestingly decorated. However, the carpet is worn andthe overall appearance is that of an aging restaurant that needs some updating inside. We pre-ordered the Paella which came outin a very large dish. We thought we had only ordered for 2 people, but they pre-made for 4, which meant we ended up spending alarge amount of money and decided not to try any other dishes on the menu. Paella was $60 for 2-people, which means we got abill for $120.00 for Paella. So, if you pre-order Paella, be sure to tell them 1 order if there are 2 people eating it... itwill actually be enough for about 3-4 people. We ordered The Sangria to drink which was very strong but mild in flavor. I likemy Sangria with more flavor. The paella came out and looked beautiful. The rice was perfectly done, but the disappointment wasin the seafood. The mussels and clams were overcooked and were dried out. It doesn't matter which region of Spain you arefrom, they do not overcook their seafood like this. The bottom of the pan was very burnt as well, which left us with a lot ofburnt seafood as well. My husband is not a seafood eater, so he ordered the lasagna. He said it was fine but not worth $25 forthe portion size. My daughter ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Tapa which was the best dish of the night. The one very brightspot of the night was Diego, our server. He was professional, friendly, and accommodating. He was even waiting in the entrancefor us when we arrived and seated us right away. Overall, not the greatest food in town for sure and very over-priced for whatyou get. The seafood paella was very disappointing as it was the main reason we decided to eat at Cafe Madrid. Read more

I'm not sure if the restaurant was short staffed (isn't everywhere these days?) or their greeting procedures need some work, but... our arrival was the only hiccup in our evening. The food was great. Rolls were served that were warm, hearty and yeasty. Theolive oil was fruity, light and rich. The Balsamic vinegar was raisiny and sweet. The meat and cheese plate had a wonderfulselection of jamon, chorizo and Manchego, all perfectly cut, artfully arranged. We ordered the paella ahead of time. My husbandwas a little hesitant as the last time he had paella (in a different state) it tasted burned. Here, it was fragrant, rich withtomatoes and a perfectly cooked variety of seafood. It looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. The waitress suggested thestrawberries with green peppercorns and vinaigrette. It was served over vanilla ice cream and was divine. It tasted fresh andbright with the sweetness of the fruit and the sharpness of the peppercorns, balanced perfectly with the tangy vinegar andcreamy ice cream. Read more

The service was a little slow for it not being busy but the food and wine were immaculate. I shared six tapas with two other... people but only captured a photo of one. The portions are good sized and generous. I will be coming back to try the other tapasand maybe some main dishes ???? I just love my Tapas. Read more

Cafe Madrid is a nice Spanish restaurant with flavors of Spain that falls little short on authentic flavor. We were here for a... birthday of a friend and had a few tapas and the seafood Paella. For the tapas and bread we had: calamari was normal, quesomanchego, chorizo, y Jasmin serrano had good chorizo, the rolls were great warm from oven, croquet as de pollo we're good, patatas bravas had a good spice which some did not enjoy, pulpo a la gallega which was decent with the octopus soft but a slightfishy flavor, and gambas al ajillo salsa Rojas which was shrimp with a great sauce that I liked with the bread. Mainly had a lotof tapas which some were great and others just normal. Ended with the seafood Paella which was not how our friends thought itshould be as the plate had a mound in the middle instead of the normal flate with dish look it is suppose to be traditionally. The seafood was decent and flavor was not quite there. Good dish but my friends said it should have been better. Overall somegood and normal dishes that I would maybe go back for trying a few more tapas and maybe a main dish. 3 stars due to it being OKand not some place I would eat at often. Read more
