So, the outside of this place is mad sus. BUT the food is AMAZING!!! The quality of the fish and the care in preparation are... absolutely 5 Stars all the way. If you have been looking for that amazing, great priced sushi, this is it. Honestly, I have beenjudging this book by its cover for years and really regret it. Service was fast and the chef was super friendly. Check out thepicture of the roll I took, just look at the color of that tuna. Wow! ( I meant to take pictures of the other rolls we ordered,but we ate them too fast. Best quality I've seen in years and I've eaten sushi all over North America. Not sure what all the 5 star reviews are about. My wife and I figured we'd give this place a shot while passing through SLC and... it was some of the worst sushi we've ever had. The sashimi combo we ordered wasn't fresh at all, all cuts of fish (salmon, tuna,yellowtail) were chewy and dry. The sushi rolls we got were on par with gas station sushi, the salmon avocado roll had mushyrice and the avocado wasn't fresh either. The volcano roll had very rubbery octopus. The best thing we ordered was the cucumbersalad. I'm usually not one to complain about sushi but we didn't even finish our food because it was so bad, which felt like aripoff at $60. The sushi chef was friendly and pick-up was reasonable (20 mins) so at least they have that going. Steering clearof this one next time. Read more
This is our first time in salt lake city. The dine in wasn't available today. So we ordered a few rolls to go and drove to a... park nearby for a picnic. The owner was the only one working today so he took our order and made everything himself! He wasreally quick and efficient. Everything was more then perfect. I need you to understand I?ve developed an emotional dependency on SM Sushi?s food. Straight up. The food here is always... prepared quick and with care, skill, and quality and I?ve been coming for at least a year (often ordering multiple times amonth). The owners are the loveliest people who have always been the ones making my food. The ingredients they use are deliciousand thoughtfully paired (and fantastically portioned) so naturally I order as often as possible. My personal favorites are thesushi burritos. I was pleasantly surprised by this little place. We ordered a ton of sushi to go, so naturally there was a wait. We asked the... chef if it was okay if we went across the street and he told us to take our time. When we came back we were given the mostdelicious and beautiful sushi! I got the Dragon Roll, Edamame, and a modified Tiger Roll with my mom. The portions of ingredients were fantastic! Lots of crab,... avocado and eel- they didn?t skimp on quantity or quality.
