Food was good, service was good. However, a few hours after eating here both me and my boyfriend started having severe symptoms... of food poisoning. As this was the only meal we shared and first we had been together in a few days we were able to confirmwhere it came from. I made a reservation here for a group of 5 on a Thursday night. My husband and I arrived early so we grabbed a drink at the bar.... They have a decent beer list with a variety of options, most from PA. I just love their beautiful old bar, it has so muchcharacter. I don't recall the bartender's name but she was very friendly. We were seated for our reservation then. Our serverwas Mike and he was super attentive and friendly. I had the white pizza with a side salad. In town for work this week, tried to get out every evening to experience a local restaurant. This place probably in local Top 3... list for Altoona/Hollisdayburg area. Good menu, good choices from the bar (including draft selections), staff was fine, food wasvery timely, prices reasonable. Atmosphere in the old building was lovely, I should have explored it a bit more. Could sit inthe high top area with a bit not enough energy or in quieter corners of the dining rooms if you prefer that for the meal.Definitely would return with family. Read more
Food and service were great. My niece's wedding reception was there. I highy recommend there for special events.
My take away on the US Hotel Tavern is based on the murder mystery dinner. First the appearance of the room was great, very nice... place to host an event or wedding. Second the entertainment was good, the actors were great. Only issue we had was hearingeverything going on. We sat at a back table, and some actors talked real low and we couldn't hear anything. Maybe adding somemics or speakers for the back of the house would work. Third the food. It was a buffet style food line, dessert, salad, mixedvegetables, pasta, and chicken. The dessert was great, the salad was good, as always the dressing makes the salad. The mixedvegetables was kinda bland, needed seasoned..a lot. The pasta was good. The chicken with I think gravy, needed seasoned, thiswas probably the worst part of the meal. The gravy didn't help or add flavor. The chicken/gravy was missing flavor. Nicest place in Hollidaysburg. Is go do far as to say one if the nicest places to eat it drink in the entire area. They sporta... gorgeous huge old wooden bar with one of the best selections of microbrews you'll find locally. The dining area reminds you of ahouse, but it's dressed up petty nice. The food is trendy gastropub style fare with a few fancier entree options. The pricesare reasonable for what you get, but expect to pay for quality. The bathrooms are clean. The parking can be a bit full. I walkedin at 6:30 on a Friday night and had no problem getting a table. Read more
The food is absolutely delicious. Great portions. We loved the atmosphere. Definitely a historical little gem. My husband got... their western BBQ burger. I got their club sandwich and mac and cheese and we got a small margherita pizza to share. Everythingwas so good and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Definitely will be going back. Read more
