Let me share what we recently experienced but let me also add that we have been coming here for years and loved this place. We... walk in and the lady behind the register looks mad and irritated and doesn't say anything. We proceed to order two shaved icesand watch her and the young man making them. As they are in the process, I notice that neither one of them are wearing gloves,yet they are handling the ice with their bare hands after touching the cash register and other areas. Let me remind you thataside from Covid, there is still germs going around and the last thing we want is for our ice being handled by someone notwearing food prep gloves. After debating if I should say anything, I finally told my wife I need to mention it to her, so Iasked the worker why they weren't using gloves. She stood there with a blank look on her face and didn't say a word, so I askedher for a refund. No explanation and no apologies whatsoever. Once I got my refund, she proceeds to follow us out and slamsthe business door shut and locks it. Very professional lady SMH To the owners: Customer service goes a long way and thisindividual lacks or understands what that means. As for handling the block of ice for the shaved ice and prepping the shavedice with your BARE hands, that's a BIG no no and completely unacceptable. This was my first time at a hawaiian shaved ice place, so I don't know how it compares to others. I got a volcanic eruption,... which is one of their specialty combos (snow cone with a scoop of ice cream in the middle). It beats the hell out of normalamerican snow cones, that's for sure. However, given the glowing reviews about how soft and good the shaved ice is, it was adisappointment. Korean and Chinese dessert shops in the bay area produce much finer ice, with barely a crunch. Almost likecotton candy. This, by comparison, is ultra coarse and may be typical of hawaiian style. It's all relative. It was tasty andstaff were friendly, but I won't be back. Good to try once, but there's better out there. (By the way, regarding reviews aboutthe handicapped spot: if the owner does not have a handicapped placard in his vehicle and is parked in the handicapped spot,call the cops or something. Report him. That's an ADA violation, even if the parking spot is on his own property.) Read more
Our order wasn't ready in the time frame shown which is fine if they're busy but the customer service was also poor. I think we... were very nice and polite but they didn't seem like they care about their jobs. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubtand hope it was just an off day for the employees because we enjoy Ohana. :( Hopefully our next experience will be better and Ican update my review. I've always loved their ice cream and shaved ice but employees are severely lacking. Took too long to finish everyone's order... and completely rude. If you're willing to ignore those two issues it's a great spot with a lot of character. Read more
One of the most unique desserts I have ever eaten! The way they cover their delicious ice cream in flavored shaved ice is truly... amazing. Also, the staff is very wonderful. They truly care about their customer base and value customer feedback. I will mostdefinitely be back again. Read more
Well this is a place we visit often.. Try the special blends you won't be disappointed. You can now order online, which I think... will be good this summer. If you have ever gone to the farmers market on Wednesday than you probably already have the idea ofthe ice, if not...you are definitely missing out.. average is $4-9 for each person for ice...they also have hot beverages, icecream (you can order a scoop or a whole pint of the deliciousness!) Excellent shaved ice treats! Would give 5 stars but last time we went in, my friend didn't get her dessert, and the receipt is... confusing, she thought they put it on the bill but didn't charge, but they did charge us! We were a big group and didn't figureout what went wrong til later. Other than that, friendly staff, delightful treats, and a cute interior including an arcade game! Love Ohanas shaved ice. Unfortunately they have reduced their hours so if you have a hot day and want a shaved ice you need to... find where the Ohana shaved ice mobile truck is. I found out today they still have the mobile truck which is how I becamefamiliar with this great iced treat. Try it with a scoop of ice cream I recommend the macadamia nut ice cream.
