This was the best anniversary dinner! It was great that we could mix and match stuff from the 3 courses for $99 and have the... other person get the chef's selection. Some tasting menu places require everyone at the table to get the same thing. Theambience was amazing and the food and drinks were delicious! Highly recommend for date night or special occasions. My onlycritique would be to have the langoustine peeled for easier consumption, maybe put the shell back on top for presentation? Read more

Hands down, one of the best cocktail in Hawaii, if not the world. The mixologist did a great job with the old fashioned. The... food was amazing, you get to pick three plates from any section on the menu, so you could get 3 meat dishes if you want, skipping appetizer. Amazing service and is a real gem for Hawaii. Food was delicious, especially the cheese tarte, but a little disappointed at the size of the oysters. For a prix fixe menu... there is sufficient choice, which is nice, and the overall price is very reasonable for fine dining. Also appreciated that thetables are nicely spaced so you don?t feel like you?re sharing your intimate dinner conversation with strangers within arm reach(although this may be a remnant of social distancing and not the norm). Service was attentive but not intrusive however thetime between courses felt quick, would have preferred a more leisurely rate. Read more

We continued our world food tour in France, at La Vie in the Ritz Carlton. It's an austere space; I was expecting more in the... decor but when you have views like these, perhaps patrons overlook the restaurant itself. We started with a bottle of ChateauMontrose 2012, from St. Estephe. It was more delicate than I recall and could have used a few more years of aging, but it wasfine. My tablemate ordered the Beef Tartare Marrakech, Foie Gras Brule and the Venison Noisette while I had the CrispyGrenouille (frog legs), a special whose name I can't recall but it contained gnocchi and Australian black truffes, Dry AgedYellowtail and the Truffled Cheese Tarte. Each dish was a visual work of art. Interestingly, the beef tartare tasted like ahi, served with crispy eggplant chips. We shared the Foie Gras Brule ... I can never get enough of well-prepared foie gras. The froglegs were delicious, and no, it doesn't taste like chicken. It's more delicate and tender. The special (whose name I can'trecall) was sublime, the black truffles delicious! I found it fascinating that they dry age the yellowtail ... it concentratedthe flavor of the fish; I scarfed it up in just a few bites, but I savored every mouthful. The venison wasn't gamy (we lovefresh venison) at all. Finally, the piece de resistance, the Truffled Cheese Tarte. This was served warm and was savory, notsweet even though it was a dessert. It was served with a small salad and shaved white truffle. I was so full i could onlypartake of a single bite, but it was sublime. A wonderfully rich cup of coffee completed one of the finest meals we'veexperienced in 2021. Vive la France! Read more
