Sushi King! Very friendly staff, fast service...no complaints. This is a solid late night sushi place. It has a Great Sake... selection, and went from a 4 star to a 5 star when I discovered the late night happy hour begins at 9pm to close. The back sideof the menus lists the available discount food and drink specials until late. Read more

I have to say, the food I had was great. I ordered the Ahi Katsu on Curry Rice. You may be asking what the reason was for only a... two star rating, since I enjoyed the food and the customer service was decent. It would be because of the cleanliness. Therewere bugs inside the restaurant crawling all over the ground and tables, as you can see from the attached pictures. I am prettysure this is not the norm, but improvements should be made. When my wife and I landed in Honolulu we asked out Uber driver the best spot for sushi. She recommended Sushi King. She told us... that they had big portions and were inexpensive. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and seated. We were a bit thrown off whenwe noted that there was one other family there. Nevertheless we were given complimentary green tea that had a really goodflavor. We flipped through the menu as if we were studying for a midterm. I noted there were some pictures on the back of themenu. I am a visual learner so this was a bonus, a cheat sheet on the back. Not seeing anything appealing, I reluctantlyconvinced myself to do the Hawaiian roll which was a really a rainbow roll named a Hawaiian roll. The waitress noting I didn’treally want that suggested I order a special. I was a bit put off by the ugani, but it was ugani sauce with tempura shrimpinside, with some crunch vegetable don’t recall name haven’t heard of it before. The top had maguro, ugani sauce sirache andgreen onions. My wife ordered the volcano roll that had inside: tempura shrimp, cucumber. Outside:spicy tuna green onions and aspicy sauce. We also ordered a side of Garlic edamame. The edamame came out first and promptly. It was amazing they had greattexture. The were cooked to perfection not soggy or too crunchy. I assumed it was going to be covered in garlic however itslightly drizzled with a garlic sauce that had a sweet taste but not to sweet taste to it. The rolls came out right in time. Thecombination of flavors complimented the others. The fish was bursting with flavor. The color was bright red and tasted veryfresh. I was thrown of by the veggie inside it was a bit crunchier than I expected and couldn’t get over it. The flavor wasnice maybe a bit thick. The tempura was crunchy and fluffy the shrimp moist and cooked just right. The portions were plenty andI left very satisfied. I did get a taste of the wife’s and that was rich with flavor. All and all a great experien Read more
