My son and I being new to Hood River went to have our first dinner here. We were dressed casually. When the host greeted us he... was approached by a man who was the owner. I had not realized it at that time. The owner said something to the host. The hostproceeded to seat my son and I at the back off the restaurant by the kitchen on a night where the restaurant was at most halffull. I knew our seating was by his design. Perhaps he thought we would leave. We ordered expensive items off the menu and lefta more than generous tip. The wait staff was excellent. When we were leaving the owners wife said thank you. I turned around tosay you're welcome to a face that wasn't even looking in my direction. The owner and his wife could have been welcoming butchoose not to do so. I find that unfortunate. Read more

Finally made it in for dinner and glad we tried it. Seemed like everyone dining last night was enjoying their food as much as we... were. So many choices and all made in house. The experience started with gorgeous focaccia that quickly arrived, swaddled inlinen, at our table which was pre-set with olive oil, balsamic and bread plates. We devoured every last crumb. As for theservice; attentive, approachable, knowledgeable and patient. Seamless attention to detail permeates their work and effortlessstyle. Kudos to their SOP. As for the menu. These are standard Italian-American dishes plus specials with a few more adventurousitems. We were offered fresh Parmesan with each course as well. Wines by the glass pours are generous and the owner/bartenderpulls a mean espresso as close to cups I?ve sipped in Florence and Milan . Head falling back, cue the harp sweep. First time coming here and we thought it was pretty good. They undercooked my pork chop so we sent it back and I thought they... would overcook it this time but it came back perfect. No comp for the inconvenience of having to wait for my food because oftheir mistake though. The sauce on the pork chop was really good and the chocolate cake was really good also. Had an incredible dinner experience! Entrees, both pasta & seafood, were delicious, and desserts were fantastic (sampled 4 of... them + espresso). Service was also excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner himself. The fine dining for fourpeople was also quite reasonably priced. Definitely will return next time I am in Hood River. Family owned AND operated. Excellent food (Italian), cocktails and service. Open 4 to closing Monday-Saturday. A very personal,... relaxed, no rush atmosphere. Soothing decor. No reservations so if you want to be seated quickly, arrive early during theseason. You won't be disappointed. Read more
