Ok store. Friendly employees. My 3 star rating is because you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to qualify for special sales.... In general, they are much more expensive than the compition. And when clipping electronic coupons, they don't always work at theself serve register. They never have enough registers open, yet Market Basket and Hannaford have plenty of registers open. Read more

Someone brought to my attention that people are bringing in their non-service animals into the store. These are the times that I... wish I owned a horse or Llama. Excuse me! Pick up in isle three. Not a bad looking store was just recently remodeled. Shaw's has been on the decline in the local area for quite some time.... Local competition from Market Basket has given them a run for their money. I went into this supermarket on a whim today becauseI didn't feel like stopping anywhere else. This particular location has been in the same spot since it opened in 1990. It usedto be up the street in the Kmart plaza where Dollar tree is. Shaw's supermarket has been a mainstay in hooksett sInce the1970s. The product selection was a bit slim compared to its competition at Market Basket and Hannaford's. Compared to everyother grocery store the prices were very high and the selection was lacking. The bread aisle at Shaw's was significantly smallerthan Hannaford's and Market Basket. Even Walmart has a longer and larger selection of bread. The prices across the store seemto fluctuate wildly from comparable products at other supermarkets. They seem to be discounts on certain brands while they raisethe price of others. The local no name brand was competitive to other stores however the price point was a bit high. Thisparticular location had a very authentic wood grain feel to it throughout the store. It was recently remodeled and they've donea heck of a job with making the store feel quite high-end. This particular location used to have a Osco drugstore in it that wasremoved around 10 years ago. Comparable supermarkets in the area have pharmacies where Shaw's does not. It should be noted thatShaw's closed around 5 stores in this area once Market Hasket entered the area. Shaw's in general has a very hard time competingwith Market Basket and other discount grocery stores. I would only recommend shopping here if this is your local neighborhoodgrocery store or you have no other choice. Clearly this location is doing well enough for the Shaw's corporation to do a modernrenovation of the entire store. Read more
