Finally, an authentic Chinese cuisine thats not overpriced and overrated here in Montrose! It was empty when I came but the food... tasted like the same comfort I'm used to from any small Asian food business. I'll definitely be supporting this one and hopethey last a long time. Thank you! Pictures: broccoli beef and wonton soup. Read more

It was our first time here. It was POURING and we decided to stop and eat. I'm so glad we did. The atmosphere has such a cool... and relaxing vibe. The portions are big enough to share. We did ours family style. We will definitely be making our way back. Wetried orange chicken, kung pao, duck and Mongolian chicken. Everything had lots of flavor ???? Read more

My dining experience here was questionable. The thing is I was kinda expecting more as if I am correct this restaurant has been... around for a while. I've heard people talk about this place here and there so I gave it a try however I don't think I will goback. There were two people working on a Friday noon. They both seemed like they were new to this industry and one of thembeing my server, it was a chaos. While he was friendly, I had to ask for utensils in a restaurant and even when the food cameout... It was odd how he went back and forth when I was in the middle of talking to request something. I felt rushed lowkey. Ididn't know this restaurant was a quick casual eat and leave kinda place. Maybe it is because the seats were flat withoutcushions. anyways i still took my time to eat because I don't like eating fast. I ordered wonton soup, dan dan noodles, andmapo tofu. they give you this cream cheese thingy which was pretty good I ended up ordering 3. Anyways back to the wonton soupwhich was okay, I didn't like the pork wonton, too dry. Next the dan dan noodles were rly dry too. This was my first time tryingdan dan noodles so I didn't know what to expect but I don't get why people like this plate. Mapo tofu was good. There was ahiccup where I specifically asked for no peppercorn and they gave me a plate with it - however they ended up remaking it for mewhich I enjoyed it very much. Overall the food was eh so I don't know if I want to come back. They def need some work oncustomer service. The parking is a bit limited but you can always street park. The bathroom is ok, thankfully not dirty. Read more

This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in Houston. I?ve lived and worked in China for more than a decade and know the... cuisine well and have high standards. My wife and I dined at Cooking Girl on a Sunday evening. We ordered family -style tofu?????), which was flavorful and served with a light brown sauce. We had spicy shrimp ????), served on a bed of sliced whiteonions and dried red peppers. The shrimp was breaded and deep fried. They tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. However, Iwould have enjoyed the dish more if the shrimp weren?t deep fried, but that?s a minor complaint. Finally, we have driedstir-fried green beans (?????), which is often made with minced pork, making the dish a bit greasy. But Cooking Girl makes avegetarian version, which is light and refreshing. The beans were tender ? cooked to perfection. It?s a relatively smallrestaurant with about 15 tables and a bar that beautifully displays a variety of bottles. A cheerful server, Lily, worked aloneand did a masterful job bringing out dishes, taking orders, topping off drinks and processing payments. I can?t wait to go backand try more dishes. I rarely give five stars, but Cooking Girl deserves the high rating. Read more
