Excellent Japanese food and sushi for the price! Getting water, tea, and soup is all self-serve. It can get pretty packed at... times, but service is generally quick. This was opened by the OG Hokkaido owners and I've followed them here. Iwa Ya is alwayssolid! Read more

Wanted to try this place so I got a bento box. The food was exceptionally fresh. Love everything on this, especially the fish.... So moist and light, I will return just for that fish. Other tables seem to enjoy sushi so I need to also try them next time. What a great place, really reminds me of my Tokyo trip! Highly recommend it! Update: wanted the grilled fish so I went fordinner today and try the sushi roll. It was really good. I came in at 6pm and it was a short line but half an hour later, therewere a full house and people had to wait. So early is better than later for dinner. Highly recommended! Read more

It’s like 80 degrees in here - humid as &@&@. I didn’t feel comfortable eating what should be temperature controlled sushi ... - so I ordered a Katsu - extra dry. Old glasses taste of soap - so at least they are clean :-/ …If guy like quantity overquality - this is your place. Read more

Came here for the first time with some friends and was not disappointed. You sit yourself down, order your food and help... yourself to water, tea, or free soup to go with your meal. Overall the food was very yummy. If you love sushi this is a greatplace to stop by! Read more

First time to try this place. You order at the counter after seating yourself, and they bring your order to you. There is a... self-service counter and there are water and tea, also miso soup, corn soup, and red bean soup (that last one is sweet) forcustomers. Water and tea are available, too. Overall I liked the food very much and the pricing was very reasonable. Selection is some typical Japanese fare. We got tonkatsu and chicken katsu bowl and both were very good. I wanted to try theBento Box I had seen in reviews but I did not see it on the menu (maybe it is on the secret menu?!) I asked one staffer aboutit and he said they didn't have it (maybe he misunderstood me). I asked another staffer later and she said they did have it soI want to come back again and try it. Read more

We came here for lunch on Sunday and there was crowded. Luckily one of my friends came here first and got a table so when I... came, I didn’t have to wait. So 3 of us order a bento, a sushi roll and a set of sashimi. Even though it was crowded, thefoods came out quickly. The fish was fresh and delicious. The bento and the roll was good. I think I would go back to try otherdishes but maybe not in a lunchtime. Read more

Price range was pretty cheap for an izakaya. There wasn't much to go off beside it was basically like Hokkaido. All the dishes... were good but I think I got spoiled by AYCE sushi spots. You get a table first and then you order at front where the staff isat. When you walk in there is a table with the ordering list and menu. Read more
