We happened upon Kata Robata by chance and it ended up being a highlight of our trip to Houston. The atmosphere felt... comfortable, trendy, and lively. Employees looked like they enjoyed working there- I noticed many genuine-looking smiles asthey interacted with and helped each other. Staff that weren't our servers also interacted pleasantly with us. Music was great- enough to provide interest but not be overpowering or distracting. The booth that we were seated at was surprisingly cushy andI hated to leave it at the end of the meal! Of course none of that matters if the food isn't good. We didn't have a singlething that night that wasn't incredible. The fish was fresh and of good quality. Each dish was beautifully presented and tastedeven better than it looked. I'll dream fondly of the fatty tuna for the foreseeable future. Our server, Khan, was a patient andinformative guide through the menu. He provided recommendations and happily answered any questions we had. His advice to end themeal on the miso lobster mac and cheese was spot on! This was the first Japanese restaurant we tried in Houston, restaurant was still very busy on a weekday afternoon.... Great food in a chill environment. Getting a bunch of plates to share is definitely the way to go here. The kobe beef skewers... was one of the best bites of food I’ve had in a LONG time. Great food and amazing environment. Will highly recommend their sushi. I did not have a chance to try their soup yet, but my... friend had the lobster crab and I heard it was off the chain.
