as a pasta shop, the menu is limited and food is sub-par.. i ordered shrimp crudo and the parpadelle. they were ok - the pasta... wasn't the best i've ever had. it could've also been the lighting because the bar lighting was blue and so the food lookedunappetizing. i give them 3 stars because of the service i got. i walked in on a saturday evening and sat at the bar. the hostwas friendly and so as my server. I asked for a recommendation and Pablo made me a mocktail, a portland's autumn. it tastedreally good, like a sparkling blackberry drink, which i enjoyed. for dessert, i requested ice cream and they gave me a scoop ofvanilla ice cream + nutella and caramel drizzle on top..which was so tasty and i loved it. i do like their private parking lotand the cool designed bathrooms. Came here for Dinner in the Dark with my wife. Location is small but looks real nice from the inside. The vibe for the night was... amazing we enjoyed Dinner in the Dark atmosphere. Had the meat option from posole to steak and dessert it was different beenblind folded and experiencing this with my wife. Service was great and hostess was very attentive. Read more
I have to start by saying how amazing the service was. The staff at Mastranto’s were so helpful with sharing their meal choice... opinions and were so accommodating. The espresso martini was the best that I’ve had! Both my partner and I were in love withour appetizer choice and main courses. Can’t recommend this place enough…a must for a date night in Houston! If this was based exclusively or mostly on ambiance or service, it would easily be a 5/5. The look and vibe of the restaurant... was great, having a nice level of energy, dim lighting, and general decor. One of the most friendly and helpful staffs I’veever encountered at a restaurant. The food, however, was definitely hit or miss. For starters, the Texqueno was great,especially the cilantro lime sauce that came with it. The cacio e pepe risotto was just eh, as it was far too fishy and a littlesalty as well. For the main courses, the beef ragu bolognese and vacio steak were both delicious and with hearty portions atthat. The pesto gnocchi was disappointing though, as we barely had any actual gnocchi in the dish (the plate was basicallyfilled with veggies). Even with the mixed bag of results with food, this was still a place I’d recommend checking out (whilesaying results might be a bit of a toss up). Read more
Mastrantos is a must! We have become regulars because we love this place so much. The food is absolutely delicious with fresh... and high quality ingredients, the menu is eclectic and international, the atmosphere is vibrant and trendy and the staff couldnot be nicer! Our server Jamila is the sweetest, she always remembers us and what we like and makes great recommendations! I did the dining in the dark experience and it was fabulous! I had the seafood meal and everything was delicious. The bar... tenders Emily and Pablo were very friendly and helpful. All of the staff members were professional and courteous. The atmosphereof Mastrantos is quite pleasant, with Latin music playing and warm lighting throughout. The design and decor was modern with acalming ambiance. I'd love to go back for a regular dinner service! Read more
