Reviews for Thai Pepper Restaurant in Houston, TX

I used to come here years ago before another great Thai place opened on Richmond between Fountainview and Gessner, but since... that one has recently closed, I thought I'd give Thai Pepper another try. Sigh. I really wanted to like it as this was our go-toThai restaurant so many years ago, but I can't give it any more than 2 stars today because the quality is just not there. Westarted with the papaya salad, which was tasty, but heavily overloaded with peanuts, to the point that they overpowered thedish. Next came the veggie green curry, which was far too much coconut cream and far too little green curry in the mix. I canhonestly say that I've never had a green curry that was this bland. On top of that, the veggies were not fresh! The cauliflowerhad black spots on top (see picture) and the carrots were black on the ends! Yuk! Our other entree was the Bangkok ChickenNoodle, which was overly sweet and not very fresh either. Sadly, I can't say that we will be eating here again unless thingschange. To the chef, if you read this, please, please, please up your game. You have a unique opportunity to draw customers innow that the place on Richmond is closed. Step up and deliver and you will find that people will notice! Read more

The food was ok. It is not a kid friendly place. Waitresses are pretty rude. Bad service. No one came to refill water, we had to... get up like 7-8 times for forks, spoons and napkins. I ordered $14 noodles for kids that was just noodles and sauce. I had toorder pad Thai and tell them not to put anything for kids. They brought noodles with sauce but it had chili ???? and Ispecifically asked for no chili. Kids did not eat since it was spicy. No one came to check on us. Lady was pretty rude when Iwas ordering for kids. Bad attitude and they charged for gratuity 25% without asking us. One plate was messed up for my fiendsson and my friend ask if they could remake waitress gave her attitude she took the plate and she did not bring it back. She alsocharged for that plate. It’s way over priced. I hope owner reads this and does something about this if not they will run offall the customers. Read more

What an awful experience. Had a take away, couldn't control or believe what I'm about to receive as "dinner": for the Garlic... Beef dish, an Industrial thin and pale plasticky beef, swimming in a dull monosodium glutamate sauce. As the highlight of thedish, leftovers of rice noodles from a different dish I have not ordered. Yuck! For the Tom kha soup, a salt soup, that made mytongue numb. With something that used to be chicken once, and a few red pieces of what I'm guessing were tomatoes. I called andasked to cancel/return the order, their answer was to hang up on me. A waste of money, time, and energy. Read more

I had the lunch special Pad Thai. It was good. Flavorful. My issue is that the for the price the portion size was small. Even... for a lunch size portion it was small. The dish came with a scoop of pad Thai, scoop of fried rice, spring roll, cheese roll, and sweet and sour dipping sauce. The lunch special was $9.50. The waiter was attentive. The atmosphere is ok. It’s an oldconverted house but the decor is nice. It does have an old home odor but it’s not horrible. My issue is mostly the price didnot match the portion or what other restaurants charge for lunch specials. Read more

It is is small, quaint, relaxed atmosphere which I thoroughly enjoyed. The Thai cuisine was really delicious. I had the Chu Chee... which was Red Snapper and shrimp in a spicy red curry sauce with steamed vegetables and jasmine rice. My fiancé had the basilchicken and it was bombbbbb. Loved the flavors and the sauce. There was no need for salt pepper or condiments. Will definitelybe returning. Read more
