Meh. Tacos were OK. Place was empty when we went and service was less than enthusiastic. I?ve never really been a fan of... tipping at a resister before I get my food or any service. Fill your own drinks; pick up your food yourself when we call you;and, as the photo shows, clean up after yourself! But tips are appreciated??? I've been a fan of Torchy's Tacos since they opened about 5 minutes from my house. Lately I've felt that their quality has gone... down so when making a trip to Rice Village I decided to try something new. My friend and I came to Velvet Taco, she has beenbefore in Austin and had talked about the chicken n waffle taco. We got some tacos, tots and elote all paired with the housemargarita or libation as they call it. The tacos were absolutely amazing. I had the chicken n waffle and the picnic chicken.While there were small pieces of bone in the rotisserie chicken for the latter taco I didn't mind picking them out because itwas so delicious. Amazing taco place.. I like the fact that they are open late. They have the best vegetarian taco options I have ever seen.... Really like the paneer option. The margaritas were also worth it. It?s amazing for a quick bite at the end of a night out. Read more
Wow!!! What in amazing selection of tacos. Super flavorful! Not at all what I expected...this is the next generation of tacos.... The cauliflower tacos were so yummy...did not miss the meat. My girl came to US 2 years ago. She'd hated Taco but this place changed her! The flavors and the tastes totally met her... standard. Just FYI we are Asian so Taco is a "strange" cuisine for us. Velvet Taco pretty much erased that cultural differences.I love their korean bbq, the beef, and the chicken. There's a saying in my country: "higher price equals higher value".
