One kid member of party asked for a side of rice and it showed up as $5 on bill. I asked about how they could charge so much and... not say anything up front and hostess said ?Yup. That?s what we charge? and walked away. Dismissive or arrogant or defensive ? Idon?t know. But not good service. We had a party of six and they automatically charge gratuity so I imagine they didn?t think wecould do anything. NYC high end prices in Hudson NY. Side of rice just one example of supercharging. Food was good but notspecial. Servers were very nice. Read more

Dined here for the second time over the weekend and it was even better than I remembered. Didn?t have a reservation so we were... seated at the bar. The bartender made us a couple of caramelized pineapple margaritas. So good! We had pork bao, fried shrimpwontons, spicy chicken noodles and sesame noodles. All delicious! Will be back asap. If you like smokey whiskeys, get the Yo yo ma old fashioned! (Seriously, it's worth coming here just to try it!) I had the... Pho, the broth isn't going to win any awards, it was young and lacked that deep rich flavor you'd find at dedicated pho joint. Idid enjoy it though. I also enjoyed the proportion of noodles, meat and broth. This place has a Brooklyn-y vibe, only a fewitems on the menu, and it's clear they have a chef driving the menu choices.and because of that, I have no doubt that justabout anything you choose will be very good. The 4 stars are a result of what happens when a chef is in total control. Pho wasmy 3rd choice.... each time I choose an item I was hit with "oh sorry, we're ran out of that" upon asking "well, how aboutchicken instead of pork?" the chef was unwilling to substitute, or the cooks on duty didn't know how. All in all, I wouldrecommend this place. I enjoyed the kooky experience, even if it was unintentional. I hope the Chef knows they are amazing andwe are coming back to experience more of the talented work! Read more

So, the food is good. Top marks to the shrimp wontons - very nice chili oil. Other dishes were pleasant as well, if on the pricy... side ;-). The waitress was nice - checked on the ingredients for us and helped find the right options. The 4 star review is forone specific reason - it's BLOODY COLD in the courtyard :-). Had to wolf down the meal so we don't freeze. Otherwise if youvisit in good weather you will enjoy. Read more

Top notch cocktails and Vietnamese food to blow your mind. If you didn?t get the Bao when you ate here, you certainly missed... out. The food is on par with the best Vietnamese restaurants in New York State. Come in the warm weather and sit in the backyardpatio and enjoy a cocktail while watching the chefs prepare your meal. Excellent service, tolerated us and our toddler very well. The Brussel sprouts with aoli were fabulous. The salad with seaweed... was also very good. Our main dishes of eggplant with rice and mushrooms with noodles were very good and well flavored. Niceatmosphere. Perhaps a bit chilly in this old building, but some interesting architecture. I want to rate Hudson Food Studio five stars. It's a quaint, chic, super friendly, vaguely Asian eatery that include great... veggies in every dish. But sadly most flavors just don't land and I'm not sure "wanting to love it" is "I love it". We startedwith the Duck Bao, served in an extra large, fluffy mantao with a generous helping of nicely cooked duck, but it was woe-fullyunder seasoned and didn't taste like much. It needed a sauce with some salt and acid. We also had the greens in ginger and sweetsoy. This was served sprinkled generously with sesame seeds and included baby bok choy and kale. It was very enjoyable. Exceptit ended up being redundant as all the rest of the dishes had similar veg. The mains were sesame-crusted tofu over miso-dressednoodles. The miso flavor was light but good and noodles cooked well, but the tofu had no flavor. The ramen was served with ahuge portion of noodles and not enough broth, but it didn't matter because my ramen-loving daughter wouldn't eat it. We eat alot of ramen in NYC and this didn't hold up. My wife appreciated the generous inclusion of shiitake but it was and put of placeflavor. And the sautéed pork belly and noodles was probs kg our favorite. Very tender, shredded pork belly with peppers andramen noodles covered in fresh pea shoots. I would eat that again for sure. Finally we had the Island drink, which was way tootart and had an odd grapefruit-like flavor. We didn't care for it. In the car on the way home, we both debated whether we'd goback. Ultimately we do love the friendly service and the loads of fresh veg. We'll give it another shot. Read more
