This is a stylish restaurant with some good options; however, the practice of putting an automatic 20% gratuity on the check for... service that is average seems deceptive. The servers have never mentioned to me that they have already added service to the billwhen they drop the check. If you can’t trust your customers to leave a decent tip, it seems you should evaluate the productand service you are offering. It feels like everyone working there is hoping for a double tip. Also, the kitchen is notaccommodating with special requests…like how someone wants their steak cooked. It’s just not customer focused. Read more
Pros: food, service, cocktails, atmosphere Cons: $$$ I had a really great dinner here. I ordered the tomato salad and then the... duck breast. Both tasted excellent. Cocktails were also very good. Wine selection was a bit sparse for glasses but that's notsurprising. Service was absolutely top notch and the entire restaurant was really beautiful to look at.... Be ready for SF/NYClevel prices but again that's not surprising given their target demographic. Overall highly recommended! Read more
The food is good but that’s about it. The prices are too high for the sub-par service. We asked if we could bring our service... dog to the outside seating area. The person at the front asked what service the dog provided for the owner - you are not allowedto ask that. Inappropriate. One guest in our party had a gluten allergy & the waiter repeated after every question “wedon’t do substitutions” in a snarky tone, no effort to make it work or provide solutions. The wrong wine was brought outwhen we first sat down. Rarely did the staff check on our table. I’m a restaurant lover and always choose to give the staffthe benefit of the doubt, especially after COVID. But this experience went too far. No desire to go back. There’s better foodelsewhere. We had a great experience here. The bartender sean was extremely friendly and very helpful with our drink selection. Sean was... veryknowledgeable on the drinks and menu. It was busy but we went to have an enjoyable evening with family. Appetizers wereamazing service was spot on we weren't rushed we enjoyed our time. The only thing I would recommend serving some more localfarm items to the menu. I personally like to see where the vegetables, meat, pork,poultry is sourced from. Read more
Beautiful setting. Awful experience. Restaurant out of several items. Chef refuses to cook meat past medium rare, and then... delivered a steak reluctantly ordered at medium rare well under that (black and blue). If you’re going to be a pretentiouschef, at least get your temperature right. Pasta was less flavorful than the average pasta with red sauce our kids get in NYC.Out of burgers, and refused to serve fries to the kids because they “don’t do sides.” Extremely small portions for theprice. Spent over $400 on dinner for 8 people, and currently standing over a hot grill to cook for my hungry family due to smallportions and poorly-cooked food. Do yourself a favor and stay away. The only positive was that the setting was lovely. The food, on the other hand, ranged from average to inedible. And they also... seem to have missed the fact that restaurants are a customer service business. The Chef has established a no modificationspolicy that includes refusing to cook meat above medium rare. Someone pretentious enough to establish that policy should atleast back it up with great food. Not so. The pasta was under seasoned and the medium rare steak was actually rare. The staffalso seemed to have adopted the Chef’s indifferent approach to customer service. The Wm. Farmer and Sons experience was completely positive. We stayed for 3 nights in the Kemp room. It was equipped with a... fireplace, claw foot tub, super comfy king size bed & all get decor. Very friendly staff. They definitely want to ensure yourstay is comfortable. The restaurant was awesome from the food to the industrial vibe. A little on the pricier side, but heyweekend get away. The whole experience is recommended. It’s on the edge of town which might be a downside for some, but astones throw from the train station. Read more
Total Perfection! We have been coming up to Wm Farmer from Annapolis, Maryland for about 10 years. The hotel is the most... comfortable with total perfection and attention to detail. We have not found better oysters on the East Coast. - the steaks areto die for. Don’t get me started on the perfect cocktails by Sean. Or any bartender there. Read more
