We make the trek back to Huntsville each year, and no Thanksgiving meal would be complete without coconut cream pie from... Gibson's. They were super-busy on the morning before Thanksgiving, and even so we got our pie quickly, with a smile, and stillwarm from the oven. What sorcery is this??? And if you're wondering, other pies are equally delicious and the legendary barbecuespeaks for itself. Simply wonderful. Read more

Cheryl made our experience super fabulous! She is so personable, happy, helpful and engaging ! The food was very good. All the... staples you?ll want in BBQ. My favorite is the stuffed potato with all the fixings including the meat of your choice. Thisestablishment has been around for many years and is not a franchise. Delish! Read more

Staff was friendly, good service, fast food delivery. Food was just...not good at all. If I go to a BBQ place and the best thing... is the onion rings, there's a problem. There was a sign that said Gibsons BBQ made the Hall of Fame in 1956. The place lookslike it hasn?t changed since then and I bet that?s the last time the BBQ was good. I am glad they invented white bbq sauce tho.I would not return until drastic changes were made. Again super nice people and I don't wish any ill will but I wish someone hadtold me. Read more

Gibson's has been in business since 1956. They have obviously mastered the art of cooking pork BBQ. Our dining party had a pork... plate with vegetables and a potato with pulled pork. The potato was huge. I love potato with pork but did not eat all of thepotato. I probably could have but was already getting full when half of it was gone. The pork was tender, moist and had a greatflavor. Two options for BBQ sauce are on the table depending on the taste preferences of the person ordering it. The restaurantalso makes it own pies. They had at least seven flavors of pie to choose from. We chose chocolate. It was excellent. There was astrong chocolate flavor with a large covering of meringue on the top. It was also large and 3 of us split the dessert. Pricesare very reasonable. The restaurant still has the look and feel of a restaurant from the 1960's with red and white checkeredtable cloths and wooden booths and tables. The iced tea is good as well. Our server was, I think, working at this restaurantwhen I last ate here about 20 years ago. She was fast, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the menu and therestaurant. Prices are very reasonable. There is a large parking lot and it is easy to find right on the Memorial Parkway. Read more

We grabbed carryout from Gibson's on a Sunday a few weeks ago. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised after hearing pretty mixed... reviews over the years I've lived in Huntsville. It's not my favorite BBQ in the area by any means, but it was better than I'dexpected it would be. They have a very large parking lot that I'd never noticed as being particularly full...until I camearound 11 on Sunday. Must attract the church crowd. I understand they are popular for breakfast, too, but I'm rarely in thisarea that early. I phoned in my order. I wasn't given a time frame on when it'd be ready, but I just drove over and it waswaiting for me about 15 minutes after I called, so that works. They have a designated anteroom for carryout/pickup orders, which I thought was kind of nice. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the half chicken plate, a loaded porkpotato, one sweet tea, and a slice of chocolate pie. My total was $31 before tip. Unfortunately, despite their pleasantdemeanor, service stumbled a bit on getting my order right. I realized before I drove away that I had been given banana creampie (I think) rather than chocolate. I went inside and they fixed it quickly, but unfortunately I didn't notice until I gothome that we were given only a quarter of a chicken rather than a half chicken. It was still enough food for boyfriend, atleast, but it's frustrating to pay for more than what you get. I sampled both of boyfriend's sides and found them lackluster. The fries were under salted and not very crispy, kinda freezer fry vibe, while the macaroni and cheese has that sort of fakecheese flavor you get from something like Kraft. The sweet tea was good, as were the crispy, crunchy hush puppies that camewith boyfriend's chicken plate. Again, I was pleasantly surprised by the meats. I didn't try the smoked chicken, but boyfrienddescribed it as "pretty good" and polished it all off. The pork on my potato was quite dry, but had a decent smoke fla Read more

BBQ chicken baked potato with white sauce is my favorite thing in the menu, but everything is amazing! They have the best pie... and fried okra! Their breakfast is just as amazing as their lunch and dinner. The staff is spectacular and always make me feelat home. I live in DC now which makes my trips to Gibson?s even more special since I don?t get to go often. It?s always thefirst place I eat when I get home to Huntsville. Read more

Words cannot describe, but I will try. The food is always good every time I and/ or my family have ever been. The staff are so... great, so accommodating, helpful. It is a great, friendly family atmosphere with good, fresh, homemade food.... Oh my gosh! Thecoconut cream pie is to die for, literally, I want it as part of my last meal. I don't usually eat it, but I am a convert now!!!The apple and banana cream were also good. Read more
