This was my first visit. I got carry out for 7. 3 Vegetable plates 2 Cheeseburgers with fries 1 Chicken Strip dinner and 1... Hamburg Patty dinner. I only waited about 25 minutes for this large order. It was well worth the short wait. EVERYTHING wasgreat! Noone had anything but praise for the food they ordered. I waited 1 hour for fried chicken (breast and 2 wings), macaroni and cheese, okra and cornbread. Once I finally received my... food, it came with 2 wings and no chicken breast. I was told it was coming right up. Well I finished my meal and never receivedthe chicken breast. If you want poor service and an hour wait for half your meal, this is your place. Walton's is better and hasbetter service. Go there!! I will next time. Read more
It has been YEARS since I was here last... their business is going like gangbusters! Take out line bustling and a restaurant... full of tables. THE REASON... AMAZING FOOD! I DO NOT like baked chicken... or white meat. They ran out of dark meat fortoday's lunch special, which is today's special... so I went with it. SO... how was it? WONDERFUL! The chicken was so tenderand juicy you didn't need a knife, and the bones were soft. There was a wonderful gravy for it and a different one for themashed potatoes. The macaroni and cheese is homemade and creamy, and the collard greens yummy. The cornbread is classic. Asgreat as ever! It is a must visit for Huntsville home cooking and soul food. Read more
The staff are very friendly. Be prepared to wait for your food. It's not a fast food joint. The food is good and they give... you a decent amount. Prices are reasonable as well. If the owner is there he will come out and speak...if you have any issueshe will make sure it's taken care of. My mom and I went while I was in town which I always do when I visit and we had the porkchops, candied yams, greens, and pinto beans. The food is always good no matter what I get. Read more
Drove 2 hours each way for the catfish and it did not disappoint! Black, white, purple, and green folk all come together here... for excellent food and service. (Thank you Dennis!) The front door clearly states This is not a fast food joint, but I don'tmind waiting for good, fresh food even when I'm hangry. Maurice brought us a small sampler plate while we waited for our meals. It had a little of everything and it's ALL good! We're already trying to think of excuses to head back this way again. See youguys soon! Read more
HOLY MOLY GOOD. This place is the real deal. Delicious country food. The turnip greens are better than my grandmother's (don't... tell her!). The catfish filet is a little crunchy for my taste but has great flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy: to die for.The hush puppies, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes: so so good. The sweet tea is SWEET, squeeze a lemon slice and go. Theservice was great and friendly. This is soul food at its finest. I will definitely be back to try everything on the menu. I'm ashamed to say we've lived in Alabama for over 2 years and had never been to a meat and 3 restaurant before. Today was the... day and I wasn't disappointed! You get a choice of a protein, 2 sides, and a bread. I got the fried chicken, mac n cheese,fried green tomatoes and a cornbread. Everything was delicious! The cornbread was very dry, I would definitely pick hushpuppies or a roll next time. I got to try some of the catfish, fried corn, cole slaw and hush puppies. I only tried catfishonce and it was super bland and not crispy so I never really ordered it, but this catfish was good! It was crispy and had greatseasoning. Hush puppies were very good too. This place was super packed and it never really let up. So you know it's good! It did take a while to get our food but there is a warning at the door telling you that and another warning on the menu sayingyou need to give extra time for fried foods. I was seeking a good place to eat and a friend told me about G's. He was absolutely ???? % Correct. This is one of the BEST... PLACES I've ever eaten at. 1st off, this is not a Fast Food place. It's your Grandmother's kitchen in a small strip mall area.Inconspicuous, but There. Because they are preparing your meal to order. YOU can taste the love that has gone into the food.Again it reminds you of being at your Grandmother's or Mothers house for Sunday Dinner. Except you can have it Everyday they areopen. We had to pleasure to meet Mr. Maurice the proprietor, who was walking around greeting each table, filling up water andsoda. Delivering meals to the tables etc. A cool ???? Man with great Food and a wonderful place to experience Home Cooking awayfrom home.
