Went for dinner. Service was great. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer. It was not good. For my entree, i ordered... blackened salmon which came with 2 sides. 1. Potato salad: was tasty. 2. The mac & cheese is giving Kraft box mac and cheeseand not homemade soul food mac. I sent it back and switched it for greens, which were very good. 3. Blackened salmon was verygood! Well seasoned. Be prepared for some of the best fried chicken of your life. Was recommended by a friend and boy is the chicken juicy, tender,... skin perfectly and lightly crispy. The fried spinach app is to die for, do try several orders of it. Homemade corn bread isdelicious as well. Dish of the day was a fried whole bronzini which was almost better than the chicken. The fish was fresh andstill tender and juicy with a perfect crispy exterior. Chandler was a charm at our lunch, highly recommended! Read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Fresh, delicious food and very friendly service. Table for two, we ordered the fried spinach, neck bones and... beans, and a four piece fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Add corn bread! The chicken and the spinach wereOFF THE CHART. You gotta try this place. Read more

My go-to restaurant for great food and great vibes. I've dined here countless times, even celebrating major family events. The... fried chicken is some of the best in the city, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Feels like old DC, real DC! Read more

Listen to me! .......Please...if you are looking for hot, fresh, well seasoned food, decent portion sizes, attentive and polite... staff and great atmosphere, then you must go to the Hitching Post. You will not be disappointed. My mom, daughter and I were inDC for the day, we wanted some good soul food...and our expectations were exceeded to the umpth degree, The catfish wasdelicious (in my Tommy Davidson -Martin show voice). Nothing was over seasoned or too salty, the fish was fried to perfection, mac and cheese was flavorful and rich, the greens were succulent. We cleaned our plates! My only criticism would be, if I caneven truly call it that is, they do not have yams on the menu. In my humble opinion, yams are the quintessential component ofsoul food. Please add yams to the menu! Anytime I'm back in DC, this will be my spot! Read more

NOT BLACK OWNED!!!!! Very quaint and welcoming home that was converted to a restaurant. Indoor and outdoor setting makes it a... plus. Location seems to be hidden by some trees and it was passed up several times. Very little parking. Food truly is less thandelicious or even good at best. From kitchen to table time was not long, food just lacked flavor. The customer service issuperb! Server SAUVE was extremely pleasant and informative with the menu options. Best part of this visit was the customerservice and over all atmosphere. Read more
