A phenomenal culinary experience! We will be back. We got and shared a Kabab Bowl. It comes with Basmati rice, topped with a... grilled to perfection mix of ground beef and lamb, topped with onion and parsley salad, drizzled with tahini sauce, andsprinkled with sumac. Then we also got a Shawarma Loaded Fries French fries loaded with chicken shawarma, onion and parsleysalad, pickles, cucumber sauce, and garlic sauce. We loved them both. So delicious! Absolutely wonderful every time. The food is made when you order it. They take off my cilantro and the warm pickles (I know, ... that's how it's supposed to be, but I just can't), so special orders are no problem. I spent a summer working in Lebanon, several years ago. How quickly I fell in love with the food, and Shish Tawook became my... favorite.. A grilled chicken wrap with delicious flavors and French fries packed INSIDE. I practically lived on the deliciousall-in-one meal while I was there! When I took my first bite of the Shawarmar version...It made me pause and close my eyes.Delicious! I was back in Beirut! Cherished memories rushing back can't be forced. I went there at about 7pm through the drive in. Having never been there before I splurged on 2 entrees and a hummus. I got the... shwarma loaded fries, the kabab bowl, and the hummus with pita. The fries were great, a plenty big portion. I read some reviewsabout the pickles which I agree with if you eat them solo, but if you get them covered with the sauce and chicken then they givea nice vinegary note which is good. The kabab bowl was also a good portion and the seasoning was close to what I remembergrowing up with. The hummus is another thing I read negative reviews on. It is true that there is more tahini in it than I wouldnormally prefer which is probably what the bitter note people are complaining about, the pita bread is also on the thinner side.However, it is very smooth which is nice. My other problem was there wasn't enough pita for the hummus serving, but I can dipother things in it. This hummus is not for people that like sweeter or flavored hummus. Everything I mentioned for about $22.Overall, a very good meal and I'll definitely go back! The worker was very nice and I mentioned that DoorDash didn't recognizetheir Independence location, they checked on it while my food was being made and told me to try again. Better off going somewhere else for shwarma. The wait was more than 10 min through the drive thru, and all of the food lacked... flavor, and they messed up the order. The chicken shwarma was dry and garlic sauce didn?t add any good taste. My husband got abeef and lamb wrap, but the meat tasted bad. They also gave it in a bowl even though on the receipt it specified wrap for bothof our orders. Jerusalem cafe tastes better. Read more
