Visited for the first time recently with a large group and could not be happier with the experience. Our server, Tracy, who was... an absolute delight the entire evening, was waiting at the front for us and took us to our table. As first time diners, he did agreat job explaining how it all worked. Our drink orders were taken right away and came out quickly. The same can be said of ourfood order, which is crucial when dining with small children. The food was abundant and delicious! Our entire group left full, happy and with a great new family memory. Read more

My husband found this little gem when searching for Amish style food. One of very few restaurants that have true family style... dining, and well known for their delicious fried chicken. All of the entrees come with multiple sides, served family style atthe table. Our meals started with mixed salad, which comes with their own house recipe vinaigrette.. Which it appears they alsosell bottles of.. the vinaigrette had a nice sweetness to it and was very tasty. The salad was served alongside fluffy warmbiscuits and apple butter, cottage cheese, and pickled beets. The beets were so good that we got a refill on those. The entreeswere served with sides of corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and country gravy. My husband got the fried chicken entree, andpaid an upcharge for all white meat chicken and an upcharge for a side of sweet & spicy sauce. I got the chicken tenderloinentree, fried (grilled is also an option) which comes with ranch dressing. All of the chicken was huge, perfectly cooked, perfectly fried, and delicious. Neither of us could finish our entree as it was so big and filling. Dinner is wrapped up by anincluded scoop of vanilla ice cream, accompanied by 3 syrups you can add - chocolate, mint, and butterscotch. They do haveadditional sides and desserts you can purchase separately - but the all included dinner is way more than enough. Our server wasChris - he's worked there for over 20 years and his experience shows. Service was excellent. He was quick to give refills, clearthe table, managed our table and a large party flawlessly, brought to go containers without even asking, and was very patientand kind. Even if the food wasn't amazing, the service alone would be a reason to return... But the food and service togethermakes coming back a no brainer. We did ask if we returned could we share a meal and were told yes, but if you don't get your ownentree you are charged $16 for all the family style sides - not a bad deal. The prices are a bit higher than Read more

We went here today because we were told they have the best fried chicken. When ordering, my husband asked if there was any meat... in the gravy and we were told it was chicken gravy. I said ok because we don’t eat pork. The first coarse came out (pickledbeets were amazing, salad was good, and cottage cheese). The entrees came out, my husband got fried chicken and I got grilledchicken. All entrees come with mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy and corn. Family style. We started eating and I noticed thatthere was ham in the green beans. I asked the server (who was very nice) if there was meat in the green beans and she said yes,ham but I can get you some without meat. She goes to the back to get them and promptly returns to inform us that the friedchicken is fried in lard (pork fat) and the (chicken gravy) has chicken drippings in it also pork. We at that point were 1/2 waythrough our entrees. We stopped eating immediately. She returns to the table with the meatless green beans and I told her wewere done eating, we couldn’t continue our meal. She apologized and asked if we wanted boxes for anything and of course wedidn’t as we can’t eat it. She returns to the table with our bill ($61.00) and I asked if they were still charging us forsomething we obviously couldn’t eat after asking about the pork in the beginning. She took the bill and said let me talk tothe manager (I am a general manager of a restaurant) she returned to the table to tell us the best the manager would do wascharge us for a veggie dinner. Still $38. The manager never came to the table to talk to us, granted we didn’t ask them to,but good customer service would have been at that table immediately. We paid the $38 and still tipped the server, but we willnot return to this establishment due to the lack of care we felt from the manager in our experience. Read more

Finally after many decades of drive bys had family style dinner at Hollyhock. Reputation for the best fried chicken well... deserved and in my memory is #1 for its specialty. Thin light batter crispy crunchy lightly properly seasoned skin and for medark meat chicken meat perfectly tender and moist. Debated trying a different meat but glad I had the top of the menu list. Almost as if each piece was skillet fried exactly the same. The included salad was fresh with a standard light vinegarvinaigrette, apple butter biscuits, fresh cut green beans, beets, and cottage cheese. A menu variety straight from a homekitchen? Also mashed potatoes with chicken gravy if there was any one item that was not a norm as seemed heavily buttered /seasoned a tad much. Ended with ice cream with self toppings of mint, chocolate, or butterscotch syrup. Restaurant interiorseveral ornate partition dividers as photos show and some curtains available to be drawn for private parties. The restaurant istucked in a tree laden parking lot and driving through the entrance reveals a larger parking lot than visible from thestreet. Service was quite good and personable with a little shared history of the restaurant and ownership amd knowledgeable oneach food item's attributes. Would visit again. Read more

When deciding where to have our wedding, HollyHock Hill was highly recommended. We called and spoke to Abby who made us feel... special right from the start. When we had our first meeting and walkthrough of the restaurant and back garden area, we were surethis was where we wanted to have special day. Abby and Chris went out of their way from start to finish to make sure our day wasabsolutely perfect. The entire restaurant was closed just for our small event and decorated so sweetly. The food was absolutelyamazing, and everyone was taken care of at all times. I was 100% satisfied and would highly recommend them for anyone lookingfor a place to feel special and treat themselves.
