Oh... My... Goodness... This place here is a winner! We wanted Jamaican/Caribbean food, with vegan options. Karuba's did not... disappoint! We ordered brown stew chicken, jerk chicken wings, ackee and saltfish, veggies and rice and peas. EVERYTHING was onpoint. The rice and peas were just dry enough, but not too dry. The veggies (cabbage, carrots and peppers) were seasoned justenough. The ackee and saltfish, for my first time? Amazing! I will definitely be ordering this again and I want to try ackeewith just veggies, too. The jerk wings were just right, sauced perfectly. When you order the brown stew chicken a la carte, itis a bowl full of chicken and the stew sauce, not just sauce. A great amount to smother rice with and still have sauce to sop upwith the chicken. I also ordered the vegan spinach patty. I was skeptical on the flavor, because it was just spinach, but Iwanted to try something new! Surprisingly, the patty was great! The spinach was seasoned and cooked well. It was not toostringy. The beautiful young queen at the register was very polite, but seemed shy. She was attentive to everything and madesure we were taken care of. The prices are pretty affordable, average of $10-20. The brown stew chicken was only $6, I believe. The patty was $3, ackee and saltfish $17. Overall, give this place some love! Yes, it is in the 'hood, but mind your business, don't be Karen or Ken, and you'll enjoy some of the best food in L.A.! Read more

Yesterday, I returned back to Karuba's for my 5th time. I asked could I order a Combination Platter of Oxtail and Jerk... Chicken. I was told Yes. It costed $18.72. It came with 3 Large Oxtail pieces and 3 Meaty pieces of Jerk Chicken; 3 Largepieces of Plantains and Jamaican Rice. I Dined-]In and ate a Thigh (Jerk), 1 Oxtail piece, Plaintain and some Rice with aPineapple Soda. I had enough left to take home. Read more

The portions were good. The plantain was very juicy. I feel the Mac and cheese and the ox-tails could be more seasoned. Glad i... experienced it. Read more

I ordered Jerk Chicken and Veggies. This place definitely fell below the mark on this one. There are many better Jamaican food... restaurants throughout Los Angeles. Parys of my chicken was cold and the veggies were way too greasy. Read more
