Staff was lovely and helpful. Dinners were great. The rooms are small and dated. Lots of stairs! Gorgeous location

Rooms were beautiful, and the food was amazing. Would have gotten 5 stars except they were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed... for Labor Day weekend. But everyone on staff was so incredibly friendly. Would absolutely stay here again. Read more

Overpriced for the quality of food served. A 20% gratuity is added automatically to your tab, and nothing about this was stated... on the menu or beforehand. Also, when prime rib is grilled and only served medium it cannot be called prime rib! Read more

I cannot wait to visit this lodge again! These people know hospitality, they know good food, they know how to provide a great... experience so that their guests can enjoy their time in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The building creeks. It'slovely, its expansive history is just oozing throughout the atmosphere - you can sense this from the moment that you walk inbecause the building creeks. Upon entry you're instantly clear about the fact that you are on a property with a rich history -one that was probably built from the lumber of the trees right there on its lake. A property that has withstood all the tests oftime. A property that is also very much haunted. Yes, I said it! The Woods Inn has disembodied energies! The property has aghost (or two, or three) running around, as I PERSONALLY saw the shadow of something or someone in the upstairs hallway comingright at me like it knew my first and last name or something. And this was BEFORE Charlie confirmed that, yes, there are someunexplained things & beings hanging around the spot. If you are a hiker, the Rocky Mountain Trailhead isn't too far. So that'sa plus. The Woods Inn, and Charlie & co., deserves all of the success that they have been blessed to experience, and given theopportunity this Winter, I would love to plan another visit. Fingers crossed! Wedding couples beware. I inquired with the Woods Inn in March of this year for my elopement this summer. At first Nancy was... responsive and quoted me a $500 event fee for a group of our size (20 adults and 10 kids "ish") and $85.00 per plate. I had noissues with this and asked about rooms for family members. She stated that another wedding was already planning to take place onthat date but we could still have dinner there and she would let me know if they finalized or not since she had already blockedrooms for that event. If they didn't finalize their wedding, she would let me know and block rooms for mine. I promptly sent hera message back but didn't hear from her for a month. I messaged her again in April and she responded saying the other weddingnever responded to her requests so we could have rooms (at this point our family had booked elsewhere) and that the fee was now$1250 for non-exclusive and $3000 for exclusive. I asked her kindly to elaborate what the difference was between the $500 shehad originally quoted me and the $1250 or $3000. I can only assume she felt she had lost money since the original wedding partyinquiring at the woods inn ghosted her and wanted to make that money up by almost tripling her original quote for me. Instead ofoffering an explanation, she ghosted me. Her last message was on April 27th. I followed up on May 4th and again on May 19th.When I heard nothing I sent a message on Facebook. I didn't want to make the awful assumption that she was acting thisunprofessional maliciously and wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but I had a sneaking suspicion she didn't want toexplain the change in price. Someone responded on facebook and stated they would pass along my message. That was on May 27th. OnJune 14th I sent another FB message stating how disappointed I was in their lack of professional conduct. We really had ourhearts set on the Woods Inn and I couldn't believe how mismanaged this place was. (Though after reading Read more

My greatgrandfather - Philo Wood - built the Woods Hotel (the current Woods Inn) and ran it for many years. My father spent... many years there when he was growing up. They both would be very proud. The inn has retained its original feel and look whileoffering the same great service and hospitality. This is our second visit since the inn was reopened and the first under thecurrent ownership. We had dinner and drinks at the Laughing Loon tavern and toured the hotel and grounds. Everything wasperfect. I grew up in Inlet and now live in the Pacific Northwest. The town has grown a lot but still retains the spirit of theAdirondacks. The legacy of that can be experienced at the "new" Woods Inn. Read more
