Great visit for the 1st time. I ordered birria street taco and they didn't disappoint. Tuesday is 1/2 off the kids menu and that... was awesome. Guac was 1/2 off due to happy hour. The Papa O'Kellys side was good! The host (blonde guy) was super nice and evenchecked on us after we were seated. Our waiter was good too. Will definitely be back. They did not expect a 9top to walk in. With 4 kids I think they did pretty good for our weird family. Almost everyone of us... ordered a Fajita Cheese Crisp. Some ordered 2. I think it's my fault. I remember ordering them like 20 years ago when there wasa location in Des Moines. So now when we are in Iowa City, the FCC's come out by the tray full. It's a crazy tradition that weall love. Just something that's so tasty about them. Usually chicken but steak is available too. Overall, it was a greatexperience and was happy to see my family all together, here, once a year. I loved the salsa that came with the chips, it has a very nice texture to it, and the chips also has a unique peppery flavor... that you don't get often from most restaurants! I ordered a Chimichanga Dinner with Pulled Chicken, Cilantro-Lime Rice and PapasO'Kelly's for my entree, and I absolutely loved it, especially the Papa's! I also got myself a $5 Jumbo Margarita that wasawesome! The one thing that was a little bit of a let down was the fried ice cream, I didn't really enjoy it as I didn't likethe texture of it and I've had way better ones. See this is terrible. This is why I usually dine in. I buy the same meal every time so this is disappointing. Where is the rest... of my meat for my salad and cheese. I?ll never order out again. I?ve been sick and really was craving the Cantina Chicken salad.But this is terrible. Read more
Things I liked - the wait staff - Kai and Carl were wonderful. The salsa - both red and green - are made in house and were... outstanding. The black beans as a side - I could have eaten a whole bowl of them! Things that were - Meh - had the fried fishtacos... Pretty much tasteless on their own... Load them up with the Aoli and salsa - better. Liked it enough to go back - woulddefinitely try a different dish. Read more
Finally got around to trying them. Had the new barria(?) Tacos. They were good. Came with au jus which was surprising, and also... lots of cilantro (which I don't like, but don't hate, and we were coming back from a burn, so was feeling adventurous). Rice andfries were good. Lemonade came in a huge glass so no need to refill. Staff was slightly harried, but very pleasant. Wife had thetaco bowl (per usual) and it was also very good. Read more
