The service was very slow. I sat there for approximately 10 minutes without the server even doing a drive-by. Eventually, I went... to the bar to get a beer. I order the bone in pork chop. It was a very thin cut mostly fat and slightly under cooked. TheBrussel sprouts were dry and under cooked. On the positive side I paid 5.00 for bread and some olive oil. Vue is an awesome experience for anyone who loves the Iowa City food scene but wants to change up their scenery. Being on the... 12th floor gives amazing views of downtown and beyond. It kinda gives off a big city feel being able to dine so high up. Theirdrink menu is great and their food selection is unique but not off the wall. There’s something for everyone and the fooddefinitely hits the spot. We shared the charcuterie, beef skewers, mac and cheese, and chocolate cake. We were really impressedwith the charcuterie and mac and cheese especially. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to show off Iowa City to theirvisiting friends and family. Read more
We made a reservation for a friend's 30th birthday on Sunday night. Parking wasn't ideal and signage on the outside of the... building is minimal, but we didn't have too much trouble finding it since, ya know, we knew it was on the rooftop! Service wasa bit slow with limited checking on us, but all staff was very kind and friendly. We felt like they definitely appreciated ourbusiness. We ordered a carafe of one of the sangria drinks, a charcuterie board, and a variety of meals. All of us were veryhappy with the food selection and the flavor! This my review of the Vue Rooftop. The coconut shrimp was cooked way too long, as you can see. Shrimp doesn't need to be cooked... long. The scallops were okay, but I don't even know what they called the sauce, but it had no taste to it. The rice was mushy,and the Brussel sprouts were near burnt. The service was very bad, my dinner companion had to ask for a straw three times. Itwasn't busy at 5pm when we arrived. The server didn't offer any desserts or anything from the wine list. While the presentation of our meals and drinks were amazing, the taste was not there (Seasoning is your friend), especially when... it comes to food. I had the New York strip (Oscar style). The steak was not seasoned or at least it didn't taste as such. Ididn't order crudités but that is what I received. I ordered cauliflower with a mornay sauce. The cauliflower was raw and thesauce was watery and unseasoned. I said to myself maybe due to my NOLA upbringing I expected too much. Nope that is not it. Iexpected my food to be tasty. So I brought it home and cooked it myself (it was delicious after I added seasoning by the way).Just skip the dessert it is not worth it you will be disappointed. The service was okay. Ambience was very nice. Overall it wasa mediocre experience. Just keep working on the food and stick to dessert you actually know how to cook or lower the pricesbecause the ones offered are not good at all. Read more
Great venue, beautiful view, wonderful service. Food was very good. I had the fish and chips. The fries are great, the fish and... slaw were average. But my daughter said her steak was so tender and good. My wife's burger was great with the bacon jam. Thechicken sandwich my daughter and son really liked. The ambiance is off the chart for a... downtown restaurant that seems to be an upscale sports bar that serves classy entrees with a sensational view of Iowa City—home of the Hawks — the prices are above average, but well within reason for entrees that are 4 star.
